Chandigarh July 23: While hailing the contribution of social and religious organizations in rendering selfless service to the society, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today said on the call made by the State Government, all the doctors, para medics, health workers police personnel in the State are working as Corona warriors to serve the mankind in wake of COVID-19 Pandemic, which has affected not only the State or country but the whole world.
Mr Manohar Lal was speaking at the Gift of Life Ceremony of the 200th child heart surgery amidst COVID-19 at Shri Sathya Sanjeevani International Centre for Child Heart Care and Research Palwal, virtually from Rohtak today.
On this occasion, Mr Manohar Lal virtually presented Gift of Life Certificate to four children who were successfully operated at the Centre and are now going to lead a productive and healthy life.
The Chief Minister said that the Shri Sathya Sanjeevani Centre has been rendering yeoman services by providing free heart treatment facilities to the children belonging to poor families. He also congratulated the families of those children who were presented Gift of Life Certificate (Gaurav Patra) today after they were successfully operated at the Centre and now are returning to their homes.
While describing children as the future of the country, Mr Manohar Lal emphasized the need for proper physical and mental development of children so that they could contribute effectively in nation building. He said that free treatment being provided by the Shri Sathya Sanjeevani Centre not only helps the people belonging to weaker sections of the society but also inspire others to contribute to this noble cause.
Mr Manohar Lal said that as during the last few months India and the world is battling COVID-19, there is need for all sections of the society to come together to effectively fight this Pandemic. He said that besides the State Government, thousands of NGOs and other social and religious organizations have come forward to help the poor and needy people in this time of need. He said that the State Government has set up relief camps to provide food and shelter to those migrant labourers who were rendered jobless due to closure of industries during the lockdown down. About 600 such camps were set up in the State with a capacity of 80,000 persons. Apart from this, adequate arrangements of beds have been made in the hospitals and medical colleges of the State for the treatment of positive COVID-19 patients, he said adding that even the private hospitals in the State have reserved 25 per cent beds exclusively for the COVID patients.
He said that the State Government has also set up a Corona Relief Fund to combat Corona Pandemic and exhorted all sections of the society to generously contribute to this fund. He said that as a result of this, contribution of Rs 290 crore has so far been received to this fund. Apart from this, arrangements of about 100 trains and 5700 buses have been made by the State Government to provide free transport facility to the workers intended to return to their home states.
Earlier, the Chief Minister appreciated the doctors, nurses, paramedics and other staff of Shri Sathya Sanjeevani Centre Palwal for discharging their duties selflessly for the treatment of poor and ailing children. He also offered the Centre all support and cooperation of the State Government in its endevour to help poor and needy children.
Chairman of the Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust Mr C Sreenivas highlighted the compassionate free of cost model of Sanjeevani and the impact of this in nation building. He envisioned Sai Sanjeevani Palwal, to become an Institution of National eminence in Child Heart Care, Training and Advanced Research.
Director of the Hospital, Dr Subramanian, said that the medical team braved against all odds and stood for its cause of saving lives of children with Congenital Heart diseases even during COVID and today completed 200 life saving surgeries with all services provided free of cost.
