- Chandigarh, Sept 8– Haryana Development and Panchayats Minister, Mr O. P. Dhankar said that the villages of medal winning players of ASIAD and Olympic Games belonging to Haryana would be linked with Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Gram Uday Yojana under which development of village would be carried out with a fund of upto Rs five crore.
- Mr Dhankar made this announcement while interacting with media persons at Jhajjar today. He was reacting to the statement of MP Mr Dharambir Singh regarding the Sports Policy of previous government.
- The Minister said that the scheme for development of villages would not be limited to gold medallists but it would also be implemented in villages of silver and bronze medallists.
- He said that Mr Dharambir Singh has experience of working with various parties and if he has any query related to development schemes or programmes, he can share with him (Mr Dhankar).
- Describing the call for ‘bandh’ by INLD and construction of Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal as a failure, he said that in a democracy, there is no place for incoherent and forceful works.
- Giving suggestion to the INLD, he said that the decision would be implemented now so that the opposition should stop politicising this matter.
