  • Chandigarh, October 12: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal has offered the traders of worldwide wholesale market to make Haryana as a base for their activities so that marketing of farming produce gets a fillip in the state leading to further strengthening the farmers economically. He assured them all support including infrastructure and mandi, and said that out of total 108 mandis in state, 54 has already been linked the E-Market (E-NAM) system. 
  • Mr Manohar Lal was speaking as a Chief Guest in the Closing ceremony of two days 32ndWorld Conference of World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) in Gurugram today. The theme of the conference was ‘The Wholesale Markets in the Digital Era: Challenges and Opportunities’.
  • While addressing the delegates of India and other countries, the Chief Minister said that the atmosphere of Haryana is quite conducive to their marketing system as the state has a locational advantage. It surrounds the National Capital Delhi from three sides and also near to the International Airport at New Delhi. He also described Gurugram as the fastest and developing city of Haryana where offices of more than 200 Fortune 500 Companies are located. 
  • The Chief Minister said that Haryana is developing huge Mandi in Gannaur over 545 acres of land which would  be the biggest Mandi in Asia, bigger than Azadpur Mandi. He invited the participants of the World Conference to collaborate as traders in upcoming Gannaur Mandi.  He assured them of all support and help from the state government.
  • Referring to E-Marketing system, Mr Manohar Lal said that a system need to be developed to integrate the traditionally operating commission agents  with this E-Marketing, so that their employment do not get affected. This is a challenge and the WUWM should come up with a solution. He said that large population of the state is dependent on agriculture, so proper marketing of their farm produce need to be evolved and for this facilities were being created. 
  • He said that it is difficult to access the volume of crop production of farmers as it depends on various factors like climate change, environment condition and natural calamities, therefore, special emphasis was being given on developing better marketing system so that farmers income is assured. Sharing the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s vision to double income of the farmers by 2022, he said that Mr Modi has given a structural formula in which 50 percent profit would be given to them over and above the cost of production. Today Haryana is progressing fast in the field of agriculture. In 1966, when Haryana  was carved out as a separate state, it used to import food grains to meet its own demand, but now it produces more than 20 million metric tonnes. 
  • Union Minister of State for External Affairs, General (Retd.) V.K. Singh said that Haryana has been pioneer of the Green Revolution in the Country and now it is the 2nd largest producer of food grains, 7th in flower production and 10th in vegetables and fruits production in the country. It has recorded highest rate of growth in agriculture sector. He congratulated the farmers and people of the state for this achievement.  He said that till the time the farmers, producers, dairy owner did not get remunerative prices, they would not be incentivised to produce more also. Therefore, farmers, producers and sellers need to be considered together. He said that we have small land holdings and input cost on higher side. There is need to develop new technologies and provide facilities like cold chain and food chain to spur growth. He hoped that the conference would have provided better suggestions and said that we are willing to assist each other in developing global wholesale market. 
  • Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr O.P. Dhankar stressed the need of providing a platform of direct marketing to the farmers as on one hand it would provide fresh products to the consumers, and on the other, it would ensure remunerative prices to the producer or farmers.  He said that this system would definitely benefit the upcoming Flower Mandi of Gurugram, Apple Mandi of Pinjore and Gannaur Mandi. He assured that the best practices being followed by the mandis across the world be it in the field of cold chain, digitalization and better management would be implemented in the Haryana Mandis. 
  • Chairman, WUWM, Mr Zengjun Ma and Vice Chairman Mr Stephen Lyani also spoke on this occasion. 
  • Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Mrs Navraj Sandu presented the welcome address.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today, on the third day of Navratri, paid obeisance at Shri Mata Sheetla Devi Mandir at Gurugram and participated in the evening Aarti.
  • Interacting with media persons, he said that he prayed to the Mata to keep showering her blessings on people of the state. The 2.5 crore population of Haryana would continue to move forward with the feeling Haryana Ek, Haryanvi Ek, he added.
  • Greeting people on the occasion of Navratri, the Chief Minister prayed that the Mata will fulfil wishes of all.
  • Others present on the occasion included Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, MLA, Gurugram, Mr. Umesh Aggarwal, MLA, Sohna, Mr. Tejpal Tanwar, Chairman, Haryana Housing Board, Mr. Jawahar Yadav and other dignitaries.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12 – Haryana Governor, Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya said that young generation is the backbone of a country. Therefore in order to strengthen the backbone, youth should be made cultured and they should have global understanding only then they would be able to grab attention towards issues such as environment conservation and other global issues.
  • Mr. Arya was interacting with 39-member youth delegation from Sri Lanka, here today. The delegation led by Coordinator, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Dr. Kotu Shekhar shared their views on world peace and environment.
  • He said that India is known as youth country as 65 per cent of its population is between 15 and 60 years of age whereas 54 per cent of its population is below 25 years of age. This group plays significant role in development of a country and actively participate in cultural, academic and social activities. The youth of India and Sri Lanka have actively participated in promoting good relations. Participation in sports and cultural activities would set up coordination between youth of both countries, he added.
  • The Governor said that in order to channelize the youth power in Haryana, activities such as camps, seminars, cultural workshops, adventure activities, water sports and mountaineering are being organised
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12 – Haryana State Pollution Control Board has got registered a case against one person and recovered amount of Rs 45,000 as fine from 12 farmers for burning crop residue in district Hisar.
  • While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that last year, 122 cases were registered of burning crop residue during paddy season. He said that now no farmer can burn crop residues in the state. Haryana Space Applications Centre in Haryana Agricultural University campus has been monitoring the entire state through satellite. If any incident of crop residue burning takes places in any area, it would come to notice through satellite and the team of Pollution Control Board would get registered a case against the guilty after carrying out physical verification of the area.
  • He said that the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department has been providing different agricultural implements for crop residue management at subsidy of 50 to 80 per cent. Instead of burning the crop residues, the farmers can mix the crop residues in the soil to improve the fertility. He said that burning of crop residue not only causes pollution, but also affect the animals, birds and human beings.
  • For crop residue management, the farmers can contact the Agriculture Development Officer concerned. Apart from this, the State Government has also been organising awareness camps on crop residue management, he added.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12 – Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh will lay foundation stone of construction work of main dividing six lane road of Sector 71-73 and Sector 72-72A. This 3 km long road would be constructed by Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority.
  • While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the road would be got constructed at a cost of about Rs 15.97 crore and it would be got completed in six months. The construction work has been allotted to an agency which would maintain the road for about three years after completion of the construction work.
  • He said that this road would serve as important link between Subhash Chowk - Hero Honda Chowk road and SPR which would provide one more option to vehicle drivers.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12 – Haryana Environment and Climate Change Department today organised one-day awareness camp at village Saidapur in district Ambala to generate awareness among farmers for not burning crop residue.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Department said that about 100 farmers of nearby areas attended the camp. Representative of M/s Y.S. Sons Agrotech was invited to the camp to inform farmers about the method of preparing organic manure from crop residue.
  • Scientist Grade-1, Environment and Climate Change Department, Dr. Radhe Shyam Sharma apprised the farmers about different methods of using crop residue and about the ill effects of burning crop residue. Also reading material related to ill effects of burning crop residue and methods of preparing organic manure from crop residue was distributed to farmers.
  • The spokesman said that crop residue burning spots are being identified with the help of satellite.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal would be the chief guest in the State Level 'Numberdar Conference' to be organised at Hisar on October 14, 2018. As many as 20,000 Numberdar   from the entire state would attend the conference.
  • While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that Speaker, Vidhan Sabha, Mr. Kanwar Pal would preside over the conference and Revenue Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu and MLA Hisar would be distinguished guest in the function.
  • He said that District Revenue Officers of all districts have been appointed as Nodal Officers for this conference in their respective districts. All tehsildars and patwaris have invited Numberdars of their areas for this conference. The arrangements of bringing numberdars to the conference have been done at government level, he added.
  • He said that all arrangements have been completed for this conference and duties have been assigned to all officers and officials concerned. He said that a control room has been set up at Hisar for coordination and facilitating the Numberdars. Separate 22 coordinators have been deputed to coordinate with all Nodal Officers.
  • On this occasion, an exhibition of welfare schemes of all departments would be organised at conference venue by the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, he added.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today paid obeisance at Badrinath pilgrimage in district Chamoli, Uttarakhand and wished for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the State.
  • During his visit to Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister also visited Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force's (ITBP) Mountaineering and Skiing Institute (M&SI), Auli. The ITBP officers and officials apprised  the Chief Minister about the activities of ITBP Mountaineering and Skiing Institute.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12 – In a major crackdown on drug peddlers, Haryana Police under ‘operation clean’ have seized 100 kg ganja leaf worth lakh of rupees being smuggled in a car in district Jhajjar. Police also arrested one person in this connection.
  • Giving this information here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that a blockade was put in place by police party near Badli check-post in Bahadurgarh area. During check-up, police team signalled a Honda city car bearing Delhi registration number coming from Jhajjar side to stop. On checking the vehicle, the police team found five bags of ganja leaf, totally weighting 100 kg, worth lakh of rupees. The police arrested the driver who was later identified as Rajesh, a resident of Basai Enclave, Gurugram.  
  • During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Rajesh and his accomplice had also been engaged in illegal trade of liquor smuggling. They used to carry illegal liquor to Bihar side and brought ganja from Orissa while coming back. A case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act had been registered against them in city police station, Bahadurgarh.
  • The accused was produced before the court from where he was sent in judicial custody. The case of narcotics smuggling is being investigated thoroughly. Anyone who is found guilty in this case, will be dealt strictly as per law.
  • Meanwhile, Director General of Police, Mr B.S. Sandhu lauded the all out efforts of district police in confiscating the drugs and relentless efforts for nabbing the criminals.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12 – The Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Mr. Mangu Singh today said that any self-sustainable Public Transport System like Delhi Metro cannot depend on subsidies completely. The subsidy can only give a short term relief in the fare revision but, it affects the self-sustainable model of a Public Transport System.
  • Mr. Mangu Singh, who has contributed significantly in the project implementation of Metro in Delhi and Kolkata, was addressing the students in J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA Faridabad on the topic ‘Metro as sustainable urban transport’. The session was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar. The program was organised by the Industry Relations Cell of the University.
  • On being asked about the fare revision of Delhi Metro by a student during the interaction, Mr. Singh said that the fare of Delhi Metro was revised in the year 2017 after the gap of 8 years as the last fare revision was done in 2009. 
  • He apprised the students that Delhi Metro is adopting new technologies to reduce electricity cost like dynamic train scheduling, regenerative braking system and roof-top solar power. Delhi Metro needs to keep innovative new tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Mr. Singh, who has successfully headed the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects of Delhi Metro – the only such successful project in the Railway Transportation sector in the world, said that all the new Metro stations would soon be powered with renewable energy as DMRC has signed an agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to carry out projects for the production of renewable solar power in the Delhi Metro premises. DMRC has also signed the Power Purchase Agreement for the same for 25 years and the DMRC would have to pay only energy charges for the actual energy generated. At present, DMRC’s expenditure towards energy constitutes 38 per cent of the total operational expenses, he added.
  • The Managing Director of DMRC said that punctuality is the key driver of Delhi Metro as it has maintained the 99.8 per cent of punctuality and zero accident in operation. He urged the students to maintain punctuality in their lives for success in career.
  • Earlier, addressing the session, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar said that the contribution of Mr. Mangu Singh has played significant role in the unprecedented success of Metro Rail System in the country and he has brought revolutionary changes in Metro engineering projects across the country. Mr. Mangu Singh was involved in metro projects that were relatively new in the Indian context. Implementing something new is risky because one can never be sure of its returns and success rate. But one can never reap success until he or she tries. And this is an important lesson that all youngsters can learn from Mr. Mangu Singh, he added.
  • Prof. Dinesh Kumar presented a memento to Mr. Mangu Singh as a mark of remembrance.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12- The visit of delegates of 32nd world conference of World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) to Asia’s largest Fruits and Vegetable Market, Azadpur, Delhi today would prove to be a milestone in terms of progress of India’s fruits and vegetable marketing at international level as the WUWM is mainly focusing on the production capacity of fruits and vegetables in India.
  • While giving this information here today, an official spokesman said that the 32nd conference of WUWM is being organised at Gurugram from October 11 to 12. He said that such a world level conference is organised for the first time in the history of the country. Delegates from a total of 19 countries from five continents, Embassies and diplomatic officers from 16 countries and over 50 Indian delegates from different State Agricultural Marketing Boards of India are participating in this conference.
  • The conference is being hosted jointly by the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB), Panchkula and the National Council of State Agricultural Marketing Boards (COSAMB), New Delhi with World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM), Hague, Netherlands.
  • Organising this conference is an important and practical step towards economical strengthening of agriculture sector of India, especially doubling the income of farmers by promoting agricultural produce at international level and minimizing the agricultural wastage upto zero level, besides finding the options for better policies in the interest of the farmers and the consumers.
  • The delegates of WUWM studied the buying and selling system and activities of transportation of fruits and vegetables during their visit to the Azadpur Market.
  • Chairman, WUWM, Mr Zengjun Ma and Vice Chairman, WUWM, Mr Stéphane Layani were also present alongwith other delegates during this visit.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 12– In Haryana, paddy straw burning cases have reduced considerably during the current paddy harvesting season. Till October 10, 2018, crop had been harvested on 4.01 lakh hectares and there had been arrival of 20 lakh tonnes of paddy in the various mandis of the State. As per satellite data furnished by HARSAC, there had been burning of paddy stubble only at 459 places involving an area of 735 hectares. This was less than one per cent of the total area where harvesting had taken place.
  • While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that these positive results were the outcome of the massive information and education campaign undertaken by the various Government agencies. The Deputy Commissioners and the Sub Divisional Magistrates were directly involved in the village to village campaign. The State Government had already spent Rs. 98 crore during the current year on provision of subsidy to the farmers for purchase of agriculture implements. As many as 857 Custom Hiring Centres had been established and 2,867 farmers had also been subsidized for purchase of agriculture implements.
  • The spokesman said that the farmers of Haryana fully understood the adverse impact of paddy straw burning on the environment and had behaved in a responsible manner. It may be noted that paddy is sown on 13 lakh hectares in Haryana, the maximum area being in the districts of Karnal, Kaithal, Jind, Kurukshetra and Fatehabad.
