- Chandigarh, Dec 11 – International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) has appreciated the Haryana Government for better adoption of micro irrigation system and for the schemes to promote this system.
- The President of ICID, Mr. Felix B. Reinders today called on the Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar at his residence, here today.
- Mr. Dhankar said that canal system is the big source of water in the state. Today, water conservation is the only option and there is a need to focus on increasing the water resources. He said that the State Government has been promoting micro irrigation in the state. For this, subsidy is also being given to farmers. He said that the government has been implementing 14 pilot projects with Jain Irrigation Systems and subsidy up to 85 per cent is being given in 31 blocks to promote micro irrigation.
- The Minister said that the State Government has constituted Pond Authority for rejuvenation of traditional ponds under which rejuvenation of 15,000 ponds would be carried out.
- Mr. Reinders said that it became clear in the presentation by Haryana during the first International Conference on Sustainable Water Management at Mohali (Punjab), that how rapidly Haryana has been moving ahead in terms of micro irrigation. He appreciated the steps being taken by the State Government for promoting micro irrigation.
- On this occasion, Mr. Dhankar presented Bhagavad Gita to Mr. Reinders and invited him for the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav 2018 at Kurukshetra.
- Mr. Dhankar gave Mr. Reinders a tour of his residence and shown him the biogas plant, poly house, drip irrigation and Gaushala. Mr. Reinders appreciated Mr. Dhankar and said that Mr. Dhankar has set an example by setting up all such things at his residence.
- Chandigarh, December 11- Haryana Government has floated a new scheme to settle the old pending electricity bills so that the defaulters can clear their dues and come into the mainstream. The scheme will end on December 31,2018.
- As per the new scheme, the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) is giving relaxation to the consumers for settlement of their pending defaulting amount of bills. This scheme is meant for facilitating the consumers up to 20 KW Domestic (DS) category and up to 5 KW of Non- Domestic (NDS) category. Pending bills prior to the year 2005 have been waived off keeping in view the provisions of the waiver scheme of 2005.
- A spokesman of the DHBVN said that for settlement of bills from June 2005 to 30 June 2018 calculation in case of Rural Domestic (DS) consumers would be 40 unit per KW per month. In case of Urban Domestic (DS), the calculation would be 50 Unit/KW/month. In rural Non–Domestic (NDS), it would be 75 Unit/KW/month and in Urban Non-Domestic (NDS) the calculation would be made on the basis of 150 Unit/KW/month.
- He said that in case of BPL consumers, the pending bill of last one year would be payable on the above mentioned rates, that is, the principal amount up to last 12 months only would be payable and rest of the arrears would be waived off.
- In case of Domestic consumers, the Government has given relaxation in the rates or tariff of electricity bills Rs 2 per unit so as to enable the poor consumers to make the payment of electricity bills. This scheme would facilitate approximately 90 per cent consumers.
- The scheme would also be applicable for settlement of theft cases, provided the consumer deposits 50 per cent of the assessed amount without surcharge and the compounding amount in full and withdraws the court case, if any.
- The consumers whose cases are at present in any judicial forum on account of billing disputes will not be covered under this scheme. However, if the consumer withdraws the case, he will be eligible to take benefits of the scheme.
- Applicant or consumer shall be required to submit KYC documents, to avail the benefits of the scheme.
- Chandigarh, Dec 11: In a unique effort to depict Mahabharata scenes through the art of clay, a magnificent cave shaped exhibition would be set up at Gita Gyan Sansthanam during the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav, 2018 at Kurukshetra. The exhibition will be formally inaugurated by BJP National President, Mr Amit Shah and President of Mauritius, Mr Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory on December 13, 2018.
- While giving details, an official spokesman said that through this exhibition, 650 books of holy scripture, The Bhagvad Gita written in 40 different languages of India and abroad would be exhibited.
- He said that the exhibition would be set up at Gita Gyan Sansthanam for the visitors from India and abroad during International Gita Mahotsav, 2018. Special artists have been invited to put up this exhibition. These artists have made the cave with clay. They have also made a clay statue of Arjuna with bow which is installed at the entrance of the exhibition. Besides this, other scenes of Mahabharata have also been prepared with clay including a statue of Lord Krishna giving knowledge to Arjuna. Almost all the preparations have been completed for this cave shaped exhibition.
- Chandigarh, December 11- Haryana State Election Commission has advised all the electors of Municipal Corporations of Hisar, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak and Yamunanagar and Municipal Committees of Jakhal Mandi in Fatehabad and Pundri in Kaithal, where General Elections will be held on December 16, 2018 to carry with them the Elector’s Photo Identity Card or any one of the alternative documents for establishing their identity at the polling station, to cast their vote.
- While giving this information today, a spokesman of the Commission said that all electors, to whom Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) had been issued by the Election Commission of India, would have to produce it to prove their identity to cast vote during MC General Elections on December 16. However, the electors who have not obtained EPIC as yet would have to produce any one of the alternative documents.
- He said that the alternative documents included Passport, Driving License, Income Tax Identity (PAN) Card, service identity card issued to employees by Central or State Government Offices, Public Sector Undertakings, Local Bodies or other Public Limited Company, Passbook of accounts, having photograph, opened in a scheduled bank or post office, Freedom Fighter Identity Card having photograph, SC or ST or OBC Certificate having photograph, issued by Competent Authority, Certificate of Physical Handicap having photograph, issued by Competent Authority, Arms License having photograph, Jobs Cards with photograph issued under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Property documents with photographs such as Pattas, Registered Deeds etc, Pension documents such as Ex-Servicemen Pension Book or Pension Payment Order, Ex-Servicemen’s Widow or Dependent Certificate, Old Age Pension Order, Widow Pension Order, with photograph, Health Insurance Scheme Smart Cards with photograph, Ration Cards or any other similar documents establishing the identity of the electors to the satisfaction of the Presiding Officer, having photograph and the Aadhar Card issued by UIDAI.
- Chandigarh, Dec 11 – Different cultures of India can be seen in the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav 2018 at Kurukshetra. Folk artistes from Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan have been enthralling the visitors withtheirperformances.
- It may be recalled that North Zone Cultural Centre had participated Gita Jayanti in 2002 with artistes of two states. Now in 17 years, artistes of more than 12 states have been participating in the Mahotsav.
- Today, the artistes from Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand presented their traditional dance forms in traditional dresses and entertained the visitors.
- It is worth mentioning here that a Haryanvi Fashion Show would be organised in the International Gita Mahotsav 2018 on December 17. Different traditional dresses of Haryana would be presented in new forms in this fashion show. Haryanvi Fashion Show is being organised for the first time in Gita Mahotsav.

- Chandigarh, December 11- The cooperative sugar mills in Haryana have so far produced over 3.13 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 41.63 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the current crushing season.
- While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills said that the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Rohtak has produced a maximum of 59,600 quintals of sugar by crushing 8.16 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Cooperative Sugar Mill, Shahabad has produced 54,600 quintals of sugar by crushing 7.08 lakh quintals of sugarcane, followed by Cooperative Sugar Mill, Karnal, which has produced 44,060 quintals of sugar by crushing 5.36 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
- He said that the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Meham has produced 29,350 quintals of sugar by crushing 4.66 lakh quintals of sugarcane, whereas Cooperative Sugar Mill, Kaithal has produced 37,800 quintals of sugar by crushing 4.74 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Similarly, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Jind has produced 35,700 quintals of sugar by crushing 4.35 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Palwal has produced 24,300 quintals of sugar by crushing 3.01 lakh quintals of sugarcane and Cooperative Sugar Mill, Panipat has produced 23,700 quintals of sugar by crushing 2.83 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
- Apart from this, HAFED Sugar Mill, Assandh has produced 38,700 quintals of sugar by crushing 5.52 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
- He said that so far, the average rate of sugar recovery by the cooperative sugar mills has been registered as 8.63 per cent.
- Chandigarh, December 11- On the basis of Written Examination and Scrutiny of Documents for the post of PGT Sanskrit for School Education Department, Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) has called candidates equal to twice the number of vacancies (626) for Interview/viva-voce provisionally and further subject to the fulfillment of their eligibility conditions as per advertisement and service rules. The interview will be held on December 15 and 16, 2018 at the Commission’s office, Sector-2, Panchkula and the report time is 9 am.
- While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the Commission said that the candidates are advised to download their Admit Card for the interview from the website of the Commission on or after December 13, 2018. They have also been directed to bring all original documents, set of attested copies of all documents. The result is also available on Commissions’ websitewww.hssc.gov.in.
- The result of SBC/BC(C) category has been withheld as per letter Dated August 25, 2016, issued by Chief Secretary, in view of directions of High Court that no appointments in service shall be made on the basis of provision of the Haryana Backward Classes (Reservation in services and admission in educational institutions) Act 2016 to the castes mentioned in schedule-III, that is Backward Class Block ‘C’. The SBC/BC(C) category candidates, except those who have availed the benefit of age relaxation, have been considered against general vacancies, he added.
- Chandigarh, December 11- Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught Azad, A.L.M (contract basis) posted at Sub-Division Jawahar Colony, Dabua Bijli Board, District Faridabad, red-handed while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 1,500 from Prahlad Singh of Faridabad in lieu of change of electricity meter in his house.
- While giving this information, a spokesman of the Bureau said that a case has been registered against him under sections 7 and 13 of THE Prevention of Corruption Act at Bureau’s police station in Faridabad. Further investigation of the case is in progress.
- Chandigarh, Dec 11: With a view to empower women, Mahila Shakti Kendras will be set up under Prime Minister Women Empowerment Schemes across all the districts of the State. The centres would provide interface for women to approach the Government for availing their entitlements and would also empower them through training and capacity building.
- This was revealed during a meeting ofJoint Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, Mr Ashish Srivastava with five states including Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh and West Bengal through video conferencing today.
- While giving details an official spokesman said that such centres would provide interface for women to approach the Government for availing their entitlements and would also empower them through training and capacity building. These centres would also provide information and help to rural women on various Women Centric Schemes and services including One Stop Centre, Women Helpline, Mahila Police Volunteers, schemes and services for women victims of domestic violence etc.
- He said that besides this, Mahila Shakti Kendras would be established at Block level also which would work in coordination with the district level centres. District level centres would have three members including one women welfare officer and 2 co-ordinators and the block level centres would have 7 members including 4 from colleges and 3 to be nominated by respective Deputy Commissioners. These members would be volunteers from NCC or NSS in which women would be given preference. These members would be imparted training to work in Mahila Shakti Kendras. The District Level Centre will also review the Block Level Centres on monthly basis. He said that in a country like India where the number of youth is highest, this scheme would give employment opportunities for youth.
- He said that during the meeting, it was emphasised to open one stop centres at the district level in the aforesaid states. About one year ago, the first one stop center in Haryana was opened in Karnal which is functioning smoothly by providing immediate help to women. He said that now as per the instructions of the Government, action would be taken on the establishment of District level Mahila Shakti Kendras.
