  • Chandigarh, August 22 - The efforts of Haryana’s Special Task Force (STF), which was constituted by Director General of Police, Mr B.S. Sandhu with an aim to deal with organized crime and crackdown on drug peddlers, has yielded fruitful results. In addition to the arrest of dreaded criminals and gangsters, it has constantly recovering huge quantity of narcotics from different parts of the state.
  • While stating this here today, Additional Director General of Police, Crime Mr P.K. Agrawal said that apart from arresting a number of most wanted criminals in a short span of period, STF sleuths have also recovered huge quantity of narcotics since its formation in the month of January, this year.
  • Giving details about the seizure of narcotics during last three months, he said that STF sleuths have booked five accused including three Nigerian national and recovered over 1 kg 148 gram heroin from them. Besides, it had also recovered 261.76 kg poppy husk, 4.250 kg charas, over 5.364 kg opium and huge quantity of banned drugs from others. In addition, four vehicles were also impounded in connection with smuggling of narcotics during the same period.
  • Mr Agrawal said that  dreaded gangster Balraj Bhatti, a member of Sunder Bhatti gang carrying a bounty of Rs 2.5 lakh on his head was killed in an encounter with STF. Apart from the arrest of dozens of criminals, STF had also booked most wanted gangster and a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Sampat Nehra from Hyderabad. He was wanted by Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Chandigarh Police.
  • Within short span of period STF had identified about two dozens most wanted criminals who were dreaded and spreading their criminal tentacles in the states of Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, western UP, Chandigarh and Punjab. Due to continuous fear and pressure of STF, most of these criminals are staying out of Haryana, he added.
