  • Chandigarh, August 21- In yet another crackdown on drug peddlers, Haryana Police today arrested five persons after 30 gram heroin and 3300 banned capsules were recovered from them in district Sirsa.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that the accused have been identified as Pardeep alias Kali, a resident of Muktsar in Punjab, Vivek, Ashok Kumar, Virender Kumar and Deepak Saini, all from Sirsa
  • While Pardeep alias Kali and Vivek were apprehended with 30 gram heroin from new bus stand area, other three accused were nabbed by crime investigation agency on the charges of possessing 3300 banned capsules from Jagdambe paper mill area in the district.
  • He said that after enquiring about the name of supplier, a case under NDPS Act has been registered against the five accused, besides two others. All accused would be taken on remand by producing them in the court. Stern action would be taken after identifying the other persons involved in the racket of drug smuggling and efforts were being made to nab them, he added.
  • It may be mentioned here that Superintendent of Police, Mr Hamid Akhtar had launched a crackdown on drug peddlers in the district, especially in the areas bordering Rajasthan and Punjab.
