  • Chandigarh, May 19 –The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway would  be inaugurated soon after completion of the construction work in June 2018.
  • Speaking at a programme organised here today, he said the construction work on KMP should have been completed in 2010. The present state government had, soon after coming to power, restarted work on the expressway and now it is nearing completion.
  • The state government has carried out construction and repair work on 17,000 km length of roads at the cost of Rs 7,000 crore. A logistic hub is proposed to be set up in Haryana. Apart from different universities, medical colleges are also being established in the state.
  • The growth rate of Haryana is higher than the country’s growth rate and the state is logging rapid growth. “We started IT-enabled systems which have resulted in transparency and accountability. This has helped in putting a check on corruption”, Mr Manohar Lal said.
  • Today, the present state government has completed three-and-a-half years whereas the Central Government under the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, has completed four years. The BJP Government has changed the systems with technical support, he added.
  • Chandigarh, May 19--The matter of offering prayers at open places by Muslims which is a social, not political, issue is being politicised by some people and taken in the wrong direction. No one has the right to hurt religious sentiments of the people and such matters can be settled only through peaceful dialogues.
  • This was stated by the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, while speaking at a function organised here, today.  
  • Referring to the recent incident in Gurugram, he said the population is increasing, including the number of people belonging to the Muslim community, and a large number of people come to Gururgam every day. With the number of those offering prayers increasing the number of places available for offering prayers have become small.
  • Following the objections raised, the Gurugram District Administration has identified 37 places where Muslims can offer prayers. Apart from this, they can also offer prayers at Masjids, Eidgahs and private places.
  • The Chief Minister said the role of government is not only to carry out development, but also to provide right direction to the society. As far as Bhagvad Gita is concerned, Gita is a way of life and the Supreme Court has also given judgment that Gita is a way of life, that is, the art of living.
  • He said that shalokas of Gita had been written on every page of the Constitution. People around the globe are willing to follow Gita and people of Sikh, Muslim and Christian communities also follow it. Some countries have evinced interest in organising programmes related to Gita.
  • Mr. Manohar Lal said though there were only three Muslim MLAs, the state government had got passed unanimously the ‘Gau Sanrakshan Avam Gau Samwardhan’ law in the Vidhan Sabha. ‘Gau Seva Aayog’ has been set up and the stray cattle were being kept in gaushalas and nandishalas.
  • Regarding the Gayatri Mantra, he said Gayatri Mantra is also a part of people’s faith and if anyone wants to recite the mantra, he can. The state government has not issued any mandatory orders in this regard.
  • Namaz, jagran and other forms of prayers are religious matters and it is quite okay to offer prayers at public places until anyone raises any objection. When someone raises objection to  such activities, the government has to take cognizance of it and step forward to maintain law and order, he added.
  • Chandigarh, May 19–‘Chatra Parivahan Suraksha Yojana’, crafted to ensure safety of girl students, would be launched in Haryana for five or more girl students. This was announced by the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, while speaking at a function organised here, today.
  • Safety of women ranks among top priorities of the present state government. For facilitating women, the state government has opened women police stations in districts. Besides, women help desks have also been set up, he added.
  • Earlier, women constituted six per cent of the police force which has now been increased to nine per cent by the present government. Now, it has been decided to further increase this percentage to 11.
  • Women’s colleges are being established every 20 kilometres and 22 colleges have so far been opened and 29 colleges are being opened. Efforts are being made so that girls do not have to travel more than ten kilometres for getting education.
  • The Chief Minister said buses were run on 131 routes for women. Though 33 per cent reservation was provided to women in panchayats 42 per cent women were elected. Similarly, the present government has made provision of death penalty for rape with minor girl below 12 years of age, which has also been adopted by the Central Government.
  • Mr Manohar Lal made it clear that no branch of RSS would be opened in vyayamshalas being established by the state government.
  • Chandigarh, May 19--The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, bears the entire expenditure on his kitchen and medicines. “Whatever be the amount of expenses on his kitchen is deducted from my salary. Similarly, the expenditure on my medicines is also deducted from my salary”, he said.
  • Disclosing this while speaking at a function organised here today, Mr Manohar Lal said that he never spent unnecessarily on doing up his official residence where he lived.
  • If people, leaders and society follow the system introduced by the present state government, it would do them good. “We will not put the burden of unnecessary spending on the people, as it is people’s money, and no one, including me, has the right to spend this money unnecessarily”, added Mr Manohar Lal.
  • Chandigarh, May 19–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, has said that the Supreme Court has given two months time to the high court to make public the report of Justice Dhingra Commission and this time period will be over in the next ten days. Thereafter, the court would take a decision and make the report public.
  • Speaking at a function organised here today, he said that media, people and the present state government had highlighted the wrong doings of the former Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and Robert Vadra which made the people turn against the Congress and gave BJP mandate to form government.
  • The Chief Minister said various scams belonging to the Congress tenure had been unearthed. The then Prime Minister and former chief minister was also accused of corruption. Some scams committed during the Congress regime are now coming to light through the Supreme Court and the high court.
  • Referring to corruption during the Congress rule, he said the CLU system was started in 1990 and the power to grant CLU rested with the Director, Town and Country Planning Department, but later the system was changed and all CLU related matters were sent to the Chief Minister.
  • Efforts were made in 1996, 2001 and 2006 to change this system, but it was finally changed in 2016 by his government and the power to  grant CLU is back with the Director, Town and Country Planning Department.
  • Mr Manohar Lal said the present state government was being accused of working with a feeling of revenge, but it was not true.  Those who are guilty are still guilty. The priority of the state government is only development and progress of the state, he added.
  • We are working to change the system. What could not be done in Haryana in the last 48 years is being done by the present state government and the Central Government under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. The state government has put a check on corruption, he added.
  • Mr Manohar Lal said soon after coming to power, his government started working to bring about transparency in the system. The GDP growth rate of Haryana is more than that of the country. The construction work on national highways has been carried out and work resumed on stalled projects. Even the railway line from Jind to Sonipat has been laid after formation of the present government, he added.
  • Various projects which were lying pending were restarted by the present government and the remaining projects would be taken up after BJP would again form government in the state.
  • Mr. Manohar Lal said the RSS had played a great role in bringing good people into politics. Referring to a statement made by the Prime Minister, he said, “I have to do good to people of my fraternity.” Earlier people with maligned image were in politics, but now people with clean image are getting into politics. If people from RSS come into politics why there should be any issue.
  • In a democracy, thieves should not be allowed to form government. At present, BJP is the biggest party in the country which is ruling in 22 states, he added.
