  • Chandigarh, July 6—The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that the government is actively considering a proposal to reduce power tariffs in the state. Since for the first time the Uttar and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigams have entered the profit list due to the efforts made by the government, the benefits should be passed on to the consumers, he added.
  • Addressing people during the ‘Connect to People’ campaign in Fatehabad today, he said the Centre and the state government had fully implemented the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.’ By implementing One Rank, One Pension, the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, has fulfilled the long pending demand of soldiers.
  • And now, the Central Government has also given a bonanza to the farmers by increasing the rate of crops from 50 to 96 per cent in keeping with the Swaminathan Commission report. Besides farmers, this decision has benefited businessmen, industry, labour, and, all sections of the society.
  • The Chief Minister said since the present government came to power, various services had been made online to bring transparency in the system and prevent corruption.  “Come elections and the opposition parties would come to misguide you but you have to take your decision carefully by evaluating the achievements of present government”, he added.
  • Mr Manohar Lal launched the ‘Connect to People’ campaign from village Saniana in district Fatehabad and met people and farmers. He said the decision of the Prime Minister to increase the MSP of all Kharif crops is appreciable and in the larger interest of the farming community of the country and the state.
  • The government has increased MSP of paddy by Rs. 200 per quintal, cotton by Rs 1,130 and moong by Rs 1,400 per quintal. Similarly, the government has approved the support price for 14 crops. The support price of Grade A variety of paddy has been increased to Rs 1,770 per quintal. If the farmer will prosper, business and industries would also prosper economically. The increased prices of crops would benefit every section of the society directly or indirectly.
  • Mr Manohar Lal said in order to reach general public, Jan Sampark Abhiyan had been initiated under which roadshows were organised in big cities. A new programme ‘Ek Nayi Shuruwat-Mukyamantri se sidhi Baat and Chai pe Charcha’ has been initiated to interact with general masses and get feedback on implementation of development and welfare schemes of the state government, he added.
  • Haryana Chief Minister Mr  Manohar Lal  today dedicated four development projects worth Rs. 19.18 crores to the people of Narwana and laid the foundation stone of seven projects worth Rs. 53.60 crore  during his visit to this area.
  • Chandigarh July 6: Haryana has invited Gujarat to become partner state for the International Gita Mahotsava to be organised in the state from December 7 to 23, 2018 as Chief Minister, Manohar Lal has written to his Gujarat counterpart in this regard. Soon after receiving the confirmation from the Gujarat government, both the states would start preparations for the Mahotsava.
  • In his letter to Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Vijay Rupani, Mr Manohar Lal said that from 2016 onward, the present state government has been organizing the Gita Jayanti Mahotsava of international level.
  • He said that President,  Mr Ram Nath Kovind had inaugurated the Gita Jayanti Mahotsava organised last year in which Uttar Pradesh was the partner state. Apart from the heads of various spiritual and religious organizations, about 30 lakh people from country and abroad participated in the celebrations. This year, the state government has decided to organise the International Gita Mahotsava from December 7 to 23. International crafts mela, international seminar on Gita, exhibitions by spiritual institutions and glorious cultural programmes based on Mahabharata and Lord Shri Krishna would be the main attraction of the celebrations, he added.
  • Chandigarh, July 6 : With a view to conserve the environment and to make Haryana clean and green, Haryana Chief Minister,  Mr Manohar Lal launched a state wide Plantation Campaign from Narwana sub-division of Jind district today.   Under the campaign to be carried out from July to August this year,  school students from class 6th to 12th  would be involved, who would plant one sapling each during rainy season and they would also be responsible to take care of these plants.
  • On this occasion the Chief Minister flagged off more than two dozen tractors and trolleys loaded with plants. He said that under this plantation campaign, children could plant the saplings at their school, courtyard of their home, canal, streams, parks or any other public place. Children would also  give name to the plant as per their choice on the name of their ancestors, great men, Guru or  family members or their own name with date of plantation specified on it.  
  • The Chief Minister said that the schools would encourage the students to ensure the survival of the plants. After every six months the plants would be inspected and Rs. 50 would be given for three years after every six months which can be spent for the maintenance or for providing manure to  their plants.  If due to some reason the plant dies, the student could continue participating in the next plantation campaign by planting another plant. Thus this campaign would be interesting for these children like participating in a game, the Chief Minister added.  
  • The Chief Minister suggested to plant atleast three plants by every student – one in the name of their grandparents or parents, one in the name of their teacher and one in the name of environment. He said that in the Indian Culture, planting the saplings is an age old tradition. Especially on the birthdays of children, marriage anniversary or on any other important occasion one should plant the sapling. It would help in bringing a balance in the climate and in preventing global warming. Under this campaign both fruits bearing and  shade providing plants would be distributed to the children. 
  • Union Minister of Steel,  Chaudhary Birender Singh, State BJP President  Mr Subhash Barla,  Uchana's MLA  Mrs Premlata, MLAs of Safidon  Mr Jasbir Deswal  and several senior officers were also present on this occasion.
