  • Chandigarh, July 11---The Haryana Finance Minister, Captain Abhimanyu, has asked the Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, not to consider the suggestion made by the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, for holistic development of the tri-city (Panchkula-Chandigarh-Mohali) through political prism. The proposal relates to development of the tri-city and should be looked at from that perspective only, he added.
  • Captain Abhimanyu was answering a question at the press conference here today about the panel discussion convened yesterday on the planned holistic development of the tri-city. On the lines of the NCR which has been developed into a large economic zone, the tri-city too can be developed into a big economic hub. It would benefit the border states of Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
  • In response to a question about the increase in the MSP of Kharif crops being described by the Congress leader, Mr Randeep Singh Surjewala, as a deception by the Central Government, Capt Abhimanyu said it would have been better if Mr Surjewala had talked about his experience in the Haryana Assembly which had been longing for his presence for the last three-and-a-half years.
  • Captain Abhimanyu advised him (Mr Surjewala) and other Opposition leaders to participate in the upcoming monsoon session of the State Assembly, instead of reducing politics to an arena of wrestling by giving unnecessary statements.
  • On the issue of imposing GST on agriculture and related equipment, Captain Abhimanyu said at all the 27 meetings of the GST Council decisions were taken with full consent of all the members, including the Finance Ministers of states governed by the Congress or their representatives.
