  • Chandigarh, July 15—The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, gave a patient hearing to a visually impaired person, Mr Sundar Lal Pahwa, who had approached him for help after the Mukhyamantri Se Seedhi Baat programme in the village of Baliyali in Bhiwani District, today.
  • The benevolent Chief Minister gave him financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh, promised him a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and offered to bear the expenses on the education of his three nieces.
  • Chandigarh, July 15 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today launched a unique program named as 'Paudhagiri campaign' to increase the green cover in the state. Under the campaign, 22 lakh students studying in Class 6th to 12th of all government and private schools will plant a sapling each, during these three months of monsoon, that is, July, August and September.
  • The Chief Minister launched the unique Paudhagiri campaign by planting a 'maulsari' sapling in Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex premises of Gurugram today.
  • The Chief Minister told students about the positive effects of plantation on the environment and said that every student would get a sapling from the forest department and they can plant it either in the courtyard of their house, field or park or school or at any open space available in their proximity. He said that they could name the plant according to their likes, maybe after the name of great personalities of the country, freedom fighters or after the name of any of their family members or their ancestors. Every student planting a sapling would have to take care of it for next three years.
  • Mr Manohar Lal said that in every six months, the student is required to upload his selfie with his or her plant on the App and he or she will be given an incentive of Rs 50 in every six months from the government. Thus, student would get Rs 300 in next three years for looking after a sapling planted by him or her.
  • He said that in three years the sapling would come in a position to survive on its own and in 10 years it would start giving flowers, fruits, shade and also help in checking global warming. He said that this would also help in stabilising the environment which would improve the overall climatic conditions. He asked every student to associate with a plant or tree and take care of it like a child.
  • The Chief Minister reached amid the students and along with the students took a pledge of 'Paudhagiri campaign' which read- “We will awake and awaken others, tell everybody about the good effects of plantation, will do maximum plantation and look after the saplings, we will help our little friends (saplings) to grow into big trees and along with our friends we will make Haryana full of greenery, a pleasant place to live in.'' The Chief Minister appealed to the students to make trees their friends.
  • The Chief Minister also distributed plants to the students and flagged off the tractor trolleys carrying plants to various schools of the district. Today, about 3,100 students from various schools of the district participated in the launch of plantation drive.
  • On the occasion, Haryana Public Works and Forest Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, MLA, Gurugram, Mr Umesh Agarwal, MLA, Sohna, Mr Tejpal Tanwar also planted saplings. Those present included Media Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr Amit Arya, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), GMDA Mr V Umashankar and others.
  • Chandigarh, July 15 - The Haryana Employment Department today signed four MoUs with G4S, Uber, Ola and Jaguar Foundation in Faridabad in the presence of the Industrial Training Minister, Mr Vipul Goel, to increase the number of employment opportunities for drivers and security guards in the state.
  • Giving this information today, an official spokesman said that partnering with Ola and Uber, Mr Vipul Goel launched Saksham Saarthi with a view to increasing the number of employment opportunities for drivers in the state. For this, Ola and Uber have agreed to expand their operations in the state.
  •  On similar lines, Saksham Rakshak has been launched in partnership with G4S to increase the number of employment opportunities for security guards in the state. For this, G4S has agreed to expand business in Haryana.
  • An MoU was also signed between the Mission and Jaguar Foundation to improve skilling of youth in the state. Saksham Haryana was launched in July, 2017 to achieve grade level competencies for all government school students and provide employment opportunities to at least 2 lakh youths of Haryana.
  • The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, thanked Ola, Uber, G4S and Jaguar Foundation for their support to Saksham Haryana and urged the youth to make best use of this initiative.
  • As part of Saksham Haryana, the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) too has been implemented successfully in the state with over 24,000 apprentices currently engaged in various capacities, he added.  
  • The spokesman said 22 private industries appointed more than 5 per cent of their manpower as apprentices which is well above the minimum of 2.5 per cent as mandated by the law. These industries were felicitated as Saksham Saathi by the Chief Minister and the Skills and Industrial Training Minister on March 1, 2018, at an event Gurugram.
  • In Oct 2017, the Government of India had recognized the efforts of Haryana with the “Champion of Change” award. This initiative has received lot of support from the private sector.
  • Students in seven education blocks - Salhawas, Beri 2, Ateli 2 and Matan Hail in Jhajjar, Israna in Panipat, Baund Kalan in Charki Dadri, Mahendragarh in Mahendragarh--have already achieved grade level competencies.
  • This has been assessed by a professional third party agency Gray Matters India. The importance given to the initiative is visible with the setting up of Saksham Haryana Cell in the Chief Minister’s Office to coordinate the efforts made by the departments concerned.
  • Under Saksham Haryana, many more initiatives are in the pipeline and would soon be launched soon. The government is determined to improve the quality of education in government schools and provide employment opportunities to the youth of Haryana, he added.
