  • Chandigarh, July 21 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has directed to formulate a scheme in consultation with officers of Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh to keep water of  Ghaggar River clean.
  • The Chief Minister was presiding over review meeting of different schemes, here today. Development and Panchayats Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar was also present in the meeting.
  • The Chief Minister was apprised that in order to keep Ghaggar River clean, 46 STPs and three CTPs were being established whereas eight STPs were under construction and 20 were proposed.
  • Discussing the Global City Project, the Chief Minister was apprised that global city was being developed over 1,000 acres of land near Gurugram and its master engineering plan was ready. It is expected that plots would be auctioned by December and January.
  • Regarding the progress of Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway, the Chief Minister was informed that 92 per cent of the project has been completed and the remaining work would soon be finished.
  • Chandigarh, July 21 :  With a view to strengthen the power system in the State, work on Integrated MIS project is in progress which would be completed by March 31, 2018.
  • This was informed during a review meeting of various projects held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister of Haryana, Mr. Manohar Lal here today. The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister,  Mr  O. P. Dhankar was also present in the meeting.
  • The Chief Minister was informed that the work on this project is in progress as per module and would soon be completed. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is also developed so as to collect the electricity data feeder-wise. Under the ‘Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon’ Scheme 993 feeders were selected, out of which the work has been completed on 568 feeders and on the remaining 326 feeders, the work is in process. It was informed that 2380 villages under 485 feeders are getting 24 hour electricity supply.
  • Regarding LED lights, it was informed in the meeting that so far 1.54 crore LEDs have been distributed in the State. On this, the Chief Minister directed  that all Deputy Commissioners should ensure installation of LED lights in their offices by August 15.
  • Chandigarh, July 21 – Haryana will soon implement a Film Policy to encourage films production related activities in the state and promotion of Haryanvi culture across the world through its depiction in the films. The draft policy has already been prepared.
  • This decision was taken, during a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal to review various projects. The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr O.P. Dhankar was also present in the meeting.    
  • The Chief Minister said that maximum films should be made in Haryana and through the medium of films the culture of Haryana would be promoted across the world. Haryanavi actors should also be encouraged in films to play important characters. 
  • Chandigarh, July 21 – Haryana Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu today disclosed that the Government has decided to extend the benefit of conveyance allowance at the rate of 10 per cent of basic pay, subject to a minimum of Rs 2,500 and maximum of Rs 7,200 per month, to the deaf and dumb employees, including hearing-impaired employees having loss of 60 decibels or more, with effect from May 1, 2018.
  • He said that a proposal to this effect was approved by the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal here today.
  • He said that the Government had taken this decision in consideration of the demand of ‘Deaf Government Employees Welfare Association’ for the benefit on the pattern of Government of India (GOI). Earlier, the benefit was limited to only blind and orthopaedic disabled employees of the State. However, now as per the GOI pattern, it would also be extended to deaf and dumb employees including hearing-impaired employees with 60 decibels or more in the better ear in the conversation range of frequencies as per the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Right and Full Participation) Act 1995, he added.
  • Chandigarh, July 21–The nation-wide Student Police Cadet (SPC) Programme, which was launched by the Union Home Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh, from Gurugram today, would, in initial phase, be implemented in all government schools in urban and rural areas across the country.
  • Lending weight to the programme and giving hope to the cadets, the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, announced that cadets who participated in it would be given preference in recruitment to the Haryana Police.
  • Speaking after the launch, the Home Minister expressed the hope that the SPC would lead to a silent revolution over the years by focusing on character building by imparting moral values to budding minds.
  • Mr. Rajnath Singh expressed concern that education these days laid stress on mere book reading with little attention being paid towards character building of students, which is getting reflected in negative effects on the society in terms of increased crime.
  • In order to cope with rapid modernization and cut-throat competition, schools have focused attention on building careers and rising incomes, creating tremendous pressure on young minds.
  • While the dawn of new technologies, internet and social media has helped our children keep pace with the changing times, it has also adversely impacted our society as we witness the breakdown of the traditional family system, and worrying rise in the incidents of crimes and rapes, he added.
  • Mr Rajnath Singh said the SPC programme would help in making students responsible citizens by inculcating in them values of respect to the elderly, discipline and social responsibility.
  • The SPC programme will provide a healthy interface between schools and police and help inculcate in students aspects of public safety, discipline, patience, tolerance, empathy, respect of senior citizens, social harmony, traffic sense and a corruption-free environment.
  • Referring to the ill effects of television, internet and social media on children, the Union Minister said since social media was affecting everyone, there is need to focus on character building of students in schools.
  • The youth who emerge from such programme would bear ethical values of social commitment and be aware of social evils such as drugs, alcohol abuse, intolerance and vandalism.
  • Mr Rajnath Singh expressed the confidence that this programme would result in overall development of a student’s personality and bring about huge change in society.
  • A sum of Rs 50,000 would be provided to each school for educational assistance, training and contingencies under the programme. A sum of Rs 67 crore has already been disbursed to the states for its implementation, he added.
  • Describing the SPC Programme as a milestone on the road to nation-building, the Chief Minister said the quality of work of the police would further improve with these cadets associating themselves with the department. It would sensitize the cadets towards helping the society.
  • Expressing his gratitude to the Union Home Minister for launching this programme from Haryana, he said it would play an important role in providing new direction to youth.
  • Talking about the talent of sportspersons of Haryana, the Chief Minister said they had brought laurels to the state in national and international competitions. The state government would soon recruit 6,000 police personnel, he added.
  • Speaking on the occasion, the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Mr. Prakash Javadekar, said coordination would be established between the academic curriculum and the SPC Programme. About four crore students of Classes VIII and IX across the country would be associated with the programme.
  • Union Minister of State, Mr. Hans Raj Gangaram, Union Minister of State for Planning, Rao Inderjit Singh, Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr. D.S. Dhesi and Director General of Police, Mr. B.S. Sandhu also spoke on this occasion.
  • Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, Advisor to Union Home Minister, Mr H.K.
