Chandigarh, December 23: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal unveiled a metal statue of Swami Vivekananda in the courtyard of the Faculty Lodge of Kurukshetra University on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal emphasized the need for the young generation to follow the footsteps of Swami Vivekananda and take a pledge for nation-building. He said that instead of merely chanting his name or keeping him in our thoughts, there is a need to embrace and embody his profound philosophy.
The Chief Minister called upon the youth to follow Swami Vivekananda's teachings by embodying the life sentence - "Arise, Awake, and Stop not till the goal is achieved." During the event, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal met Vice Chancellor Prof. Somnath Sachdeva, Registrar Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, and the teachers of the Fine Arts Department, congratulating them for their significant contribution to the construction of the statue.
In addition, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal also inaugurated a sports hostel in Kurukshetra University on the same day, where he highlighted that the hostel will provide comprehensive facilities for the players. He commended Kurukshetra University for its outstanding performance in both education and sports. Recognizing the achievements of the players at the national and international levels, he congratulated Vice Chancellor Prof. Somnath Sachdeva for securing the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy (MAKA) for hockey for the second consecutive time. The Vice Chancellor, in turn, welcomed Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, expressing his belief that Swami Vivekananda's metal statue would inspire and enthuse the youth.
Present on the occasion include MLA, Sh. Subhash Sudha, Chief Executive Officer, Kurukshetra Development Board, Sh. Akhil Pilani, along with other dignitaries.
