Chandigarh, September 20: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the arrival of Jewar Airport has opened up new possibilities for development in Faridabad and Palwal districts. For the planned development of Faridabad Palwal districts of Haryana adjoining Jewar, a new masterplan will be prepared by declaring the Yamuna area as a controlled area.
The Chief Minister outlined the above while presiding over the fourth meeting of the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) in Faridabad district on Wednesday. Union Minister of State for Energy and Heavy Industries, Sh. Krishna Pal Gurjar, Haryana Transport Minister, Sh. Mool Chand Sharma and Urban Local Bodies Minister Dr. Kamal Gupta were also present on this occasion.
In the meeting, a total budget of Rs 878.23 crore was approved for the year 2023-24 to accelerate the development of Faridabad City through Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA). The Authority approved key projects designed to improve the city's infrastructure, enhance citizen services and contribute to a better environment while envisioning the future population growth and related infrastructure development requirements by the year 2031. The development agenda was presented by Chief Executive Officer, FMDA, Shri A. Sreenivas which was approved by the Chief Minister of Haryana for the upliftment of the city and the benefit of the public at large.
Sh. Manohar Lal said that with a futuristic outlook and vision for Faridabad, FMDA has developed a strong development plan keeping in mind the projected population growth in the city till 2031. Some major development plans were presented in the Authority meeting today to support the expansion and development of Faridabad in the next few years. Several major proposed projects have been approved and further scope of work will be implemented in a time-bound manner.
Approval for expansion of drinking water supply in Faridabad, 5 new Ranney Wells will be installed
The Chief Minister said that as per Faridabad Development Plan-2031, the master plan has been prepared by FMDA for the supply of bulk drinking water to the present and potential population of the entire Faridabad city. Presently, water availability in Faridabad is 330 MLD, and construction of 12 new Ranney Wells is underway by FMDA which will take the supply capacity to 450 MLD.
The administrative approval for the installation of five Ranney Wells in the revenue estate of village Basantpur to supplement water supply in Badkhal and NIT constituencies at a project cost of Rs 294.15 crore was also approved by the Chief Minister.
Additionally, the proposal to increase the water supply from 450 MLD to 700 MLD for the year 2031 by construction of an additional 22 Ranney Wells, 70 tube wells and boosting stations was presented in the meeting of the Authority. After completion of the project by the year 2028-2029, Faridabad will have a total of 56 rainy wells and 220 tube wells, which will help in providing pure water supply of about 700 MLD to the estimated population of 39.55 lakh. The project costing Rs 3000 crore has been approved by the Chief Minister in the meeting today.
Sewerage network will be strengthened in Faridabad
At present, Faridabad has 272.5 MLD capacity sewage treatment plants (STPs) available to treat 380 MLD total domestic wastewater. Moreover, domestic sewage production will be 630 MLD in the year 2031 and 672 MLD in the year 2040.
To bridge this gap and improve the sewerage system in the underdeveloped area of FMDA by providing 122 MLD STPs with a total capacity of 277 MLD by the year 2040, construction of 7 new STPs, pumping stations and main sewer line of 287 km length, 32 The proposal for rehabilitation and upgradation of sewerage system in Faridabad Municipal Corporation by renovation of intermediate pumping stations, 25 km new main sewer line, desilting of 90 km main sewer line etc., was presented by CEO FMDA in today's meeting. This project, to be implemented at a cost of Rs 1550 crore, has been approved by the authority.
20 km long road along Agra canal will be four-lane
The Chief Minister said that the proposal for construction of two additional lanes and strengthening of the existing two-lane road on the 20 km long road along the Agra Canal in Greater Faridabad has been approved. Through this route, the passengers will have improved access to Delhi, Noida and Meerut, Bulandshahr or Yamuna Expressway as well as Faridabad-Jewar Airport Road. Sh. Manohar Lal underlined that this project is of high public interest and will greatly benefit the citizens. The UP-Irrigation Department will execute this project as a deposit work of FMDA at a cost of Rs. 278 Cr wherein construction/widening of a paved road with central verge and cycle track will be taken up.
He added that a proposal for construction of a 75-meter-long incomplete portion of Kheri Kalan Bypass Road connecting Sectors 77, 78, 83, 84 and 89 as well as villages Khedi Kalan, Bhupani and Faridpur of Greater Faridabad was also placed in the meeting. This project will be taken forward after purchasing land from farmers.
He further added that improving the road network and connectivity in Faridabad has been a top priority for FMDA and we have got approval on some major development projects, which will be taken up on priority basis.
CCTV surveillance and enhancing civil security
Sh. Manohar Lal said that to strengthen the scope of CCTV surveillance in the city, enhance security measures and ensure electronic monitoring and enforcement of road safety on National Highways, State Highways, roads and urban city areas, the Authority has been entrusted with various important tasks in Faridabad. A proposal to provide about 1009 cameras at various places was also presented, which has been approved. The project will include the installation of approximately 566 CCTV cameras, 48-speed cameras, 100 body wearable cameras, 260 Automatic Number-Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and 25 Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) cameras to detect acts of crime and traffic violations in Faridabad. To prevent this, it will be implemented at a cost of around Rs 60 crore. It was underlined by the Chief Minister that the project should be expedited to ensure safety of citizens and better traffic management on the city roads for the benefit of the public at large.
The city will get Rs 370 crore under AMRUT 2 scheme
The Chief Minister said that Rs 1494 crore has been received from the Central Government under the AMRUT 2 scheme. Of these, Rs 370 crore will be given to Faridabad city. At the same time, Rs 560.8 crore received from EDC fund will also be spent on the development of the city. He emphasized that FMDA will only focus on major development works while small-scale development works will be taken up by Municipal Corporation and other development departments.
The city will get 50 new CNG buses, proposals for e-buses will also be sent
Sh. Manohar Lal said that the government will provide 50 new CNG buses to FMDA to enhance public transport services in the city. Apart from this, a proposal for 100 new e-buses is also being prepared. He said that our emphasis is on strengthening public transport. The outline of the highway connecting the East-West city was also discussed in the meeting wherein this highway will be constructed jointly by FMDA and Public Works Department.
