Chandigarh, August 17 - Haryana, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has said that the State Electricity Regulatory Commissions are significantly enhancing electricity services for the consumers and positively impacting DISCOMs. As a result, all the DISCOMs in Haryana have achieved profitability for the first time attributed to their efforts and the ‘’Uday’’ Scheme introduced by the Prime Minister, sh. Narender Modi.
The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the Regional Conference of Electricity Regulatory Commissions organized on the occasion of the silver jubilee formation of the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission on 17 August 2023.
Chief Minister congratulated the companies for completing 25 years of formation and also overcoming the losses with the "Uday" scheme initiated by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. Haryana's efforts resulted in the state's DISCOMs collectively overcoming a loss of Rs. 25,950 crores, and now all four DISCOMs in Haryana are operating at a profit.
The "Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon" scheme has facilitated 24-hours power supply in 5745 villages across the state, while the rates of electricity bills have remained unchanged over the past 9 years. In addiont, line losses have reduced from 34 percent to 15 percent showing people’s increasing reliance on electricity, he added.
The agriculture sector received substantial subsidies with plans underway to embrace green energy as an alternative. Last year, 53,000 agricultural tube wells were brought on solar power in Haryana under the PM Kusum Yojana. This year, a target has been set to bring 70,000 agricultural tube wells to solar power.
Chairman, Power Utilities, Sh. PK Das, DGP, Sh. Shatrujit Kapoor, Managing Director, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Dr. Saket Kumar, Member of the Commission Sh. Naresh Sardana besides the Chairman and members of Electricity Regulatory Commissions of various states also remained present.
