Chandigarh, July 28 – In a major relief to the water consumers, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal announced penalty and interest waivers on outstanding water bills. Now the consumers have to clear their outstanding bill amount. He further announced that if desired, the consumers can also pay this bill amount in installments also.
Addressing the people at Jan Samvad held in Ateli, district Mahendragarh today; Sh. Manohar Lal said the water bill with the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department was pending for years. At that time the tanks were distributed and the consumers were never asked to clear their pending bills. The PHE department had imposed a penalty and interest ranging from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 40,000. However, when the issue was raised before us, we decided to waive the penalty and the interest of the pending bill amount.
The Chief Minister said that as per the prescribed rates, the General category consumers will have to pay a maximum of Rs 7600 while the Scheduled Caste (SC) will have to pay a maximum of Rs 3800.
“As per the previously prescribed rates, Rs 40 per month are fixed for general category citizens, while Rs 20 per month are fixed for the Scheduled Caste (SC),” informed Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Chief Minister also announced to give Rs. 3 crore for the construction of a Community Centre at Ateli.
Jan Samvad turns out golden opportunity for elderly woman, CM hands over the pension certificate to her within one hour
Meanwhile, the happiness of Santosh Devi, a resident of Bharaf village knew no bounds after the Chief Minister resolved her months-old problem of not getting the elderly pension within one hour. Upon receiving the pension certificate from the Chief Minister, Santosh Devi shared that today she had specially come to attend the Jan Samvad as she could not have such a golden opportunity again to raise her demand before the Chief Minister.
“The moment I got a chance to interact with the Chief Minister during the Jan Samvad, I immediately shared my concern of how for the past 10 months I have been running pillar to post to get my pension. I am so grateful to Sh. Manohar Lal that he resolved my months-old issue within just 1 hour and handed over my pension certificate,” said Santosh Devi.
During the Samvad, Sh. Manohar Lal also announced the construction of boundary walls and sheds for the cremation grounds of all the villages of the state under the Shiv Dham Naveenikaran Yojana. Similarly, Haryana Transport buses will be arranged for the villages where girls go to study in other villages, announced Chief Minister.
He said that a teacher would be designated as the nodal officer for this work in all the schools. If there is no arrangement for Haryana state transport, then children can commute to school by any private vehicle of the same village. For this, transport rates will be fixed according to each student, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
CM inaugurates two projects in Ateli completed at a cost of about Rs 4.8 crore
The Chief Minister also inaugurated two projects completed at a cost of about Rs 4.8 crore during the Samvad programme. These include the inauguration of the new road from Bhilwara to Kaysa Rajasthan border constructed at a cost of about Rs 249.42 lakh and the road from Mata Mandir Mahasar to Karia-Kanina road constructed at a cost of about Rs 159.55 lakh.
2500 complaints received Jan Samvad portal settled
Later interacting with the media persons, the Chief Minister said that through these Samvad programmes, direct feedback is taken from the public for the work done by the government in the last eight and a half years.
He said that more than 14,000 written complaints have been received on the Jan Samvad portal, out of which 2,500 have been disposed off. The pending complaints will be resolved soon and information will also be sent to the complainant’s mobile number.
The Chief Minister said that DAYALU Yojana had started from April 1, 2023. Different categories have been created under this scheme. Under this scheme there is a provision to provide financial assistance ranging from Rs. 1 lakh upto Rs. 5 lakh according to different age groups. He said that financial aid of Rs. 4 lakh each has also been given to the 35 families who have lost their members due to floods.
“All this has been possible only because everything has been made available on portals launched by our government. Opposition tag us as ‘Portal ki Sarkar’. We accept this tag with pride that our government has made more than 100 portals, due to which people do not have to make rounds to Chandigarh to get their work done; rather now they can simply raise any concern or avail the benefits of any scheme while sitting at their homes only,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.
