Chandigarh July 16 – Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while speaking as the chief guest at the unveiling ceremony of the statues of Dada Kushal Singh and Brigadier Hoshiar Singh in Kharkhoda sub-division of Sonipat district on Sunday said that both of them are great men and the supreme sacrifice made by them can never be forgotten.

He said that in 1675, when Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji blew the bugle against Aurangzeb, Dada Kushal Singh made a supreme sacrifice by offering his head in place of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Similarly, Brigadier Hoshiar Singh who has been awarded Param Vir Chakra, the highest honour of the army, participated in the war of 1965 and 1971 and showed his bravery and great courage.

 Praising Brigadier Hoshiar Singh, Sh. Manohar Lal said that he refused to retreat even after there was a ceasefire. By remembering the bravery of such great people, society finds a new path and the youth also gets inspired.

The Chief Minister said that today every tenth person in the country's army is from Haryana, which is the result of the patriotism among our youth. 

He said that the state government has provided 367 jobs in the last 8 years to the families of the martyrs of all the battles fought after the 1971 war. Besides this, Rs. 50 lakh is given as ex-gratia to the families of the martyrs, Rs. 50 lakhs to their families in case of martyrdom in an IED blast, Rs.15 lakhs, Rs. 25 lakhs and Rs. 35 lakhs on different scales for the disabled or martyrs injured in any war is provided.

Not only this, a monthly pension of Rs 10,000 is also being provided to the families of martyrs in World War II. Scholarships are also given to students pursuing IITs, IIMs, MPhil and PhD, said Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister said that an amount of Rs. 11 crore has been released for the drainage of rainwater. Apart from this, 90 percent work on Sonipat Rohtak Road has been completed; it will also be started soon. 

He said that tenders worth Rs 25 crore have been floated for development works for each Vidhan Sabha. Due to the rains, the work has slowed down for some time, but all the work will be started after the situation becomes normal.

Sonipat Lok Sabha MP, Sh.  Ramesh Kaushik, former Union Minister, Sh. Vijay Goel and others also remained present on this occasion.
