Chandigarh, July 14: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sh Narendra Singh Tomar has appreciated the digitization system being adopted by the Haryana Government for the schemes implemented for the benefit of the farmers in the State. He described the welfare measures being taken by Chief Minister, Sh Manohar Lal in the interest of farmers as exemplary for other states of the country.

The Chief Minister, Sh Manohar Lal met the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Sh Narendra Singh Tomar at his residence in New Delhi today and apprised him about various decisions being taken by the State Government in the interest of the farmers. Sh Manohar Lal said that the benefits of various schemes implemented by the Central Government towards agriculture and farmers welfare are being provided to farmers in the State.

While describing the policies implemented by the Haryana Government in the interest of farmers as an ideal for the entire country, the Union Minister assured the Chief Minister of all support and cooperation of his Ministry. Sh Tomar said that the State Government is protecting the interest of farmers and working for their welfare.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Sh Manohar Lal told Union Minister and the officers of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare that Haryana is such a State in the country in which the complete data of agricultural crops sown by farmers in their fields have been recorded online on “Meri Fasal-Mera Byora” portal. Apart from this, a decision has been taken by the State Government that in case of any kind of natural calamity, compensation for the affected crops be given on time to the farmer sowing field.

The Chief Minister also apprised the Union Minister about the technical difficulties being faced by the farmers related to Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). Sh Manohar Lal said that the farmers’ satisfaction is the priority of the State Government and on this basis, he put forth various suggestions before the Agriculture Ministry and also urged for the resolutions. He said that the Haryana Government stands firmly with the farmers in the time of disaster and all out efforts are being made by the State Government at every level so as to ensure that they do not face any inconvenience. He further said that the State Government is giving special emphasis on the promoting horticulture crops in the State and full cooperation is being given to the farmers in Haryana through Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana.

Among those present on this occasion included Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sh V. Umashankar, Resident Commissioner, Delhi Dr. D. Suresh and officers of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
