Chandigarh, June 5: Terming the newly appointed candidates of civil services as public servants, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that they should work with honesty, sensitivity, patience; with the spirit of service and Antyodaya.
The Chief Minister was addressing the Pratibha Samman Samaroh organized for the promising candidates of Haryana; who were successful in the Union Public Service Commission examination, here today. The Chief Minister felicitated all the candidates by presenting mementos and Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.
Congratulating the talented youth and their parents, he said that the selected candidates would make a good contribution towards the Haryana Uday and Atmanirbhar Bharat. “We have to move forward with the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and do better work for the welfare of the society,” he added.
Sh. Manohar Lal said that the children of Haryana are talented and a new environment has been created in this regard by the government in the last eight years. Resultantly, 6.50 percent candidates of the state have been successful in the Civil Services Examination of the year 2022, he said.
“Haryana is ahead of other states in many aspects. Haryana's total population is two percent of the country's population, while Haryana's contribution is 10 percent in defence sector, 35 percent in sports and 15 percent in agriculture sector. The government is endeavouring to take this contribution further,” he added.
Matter of pride for Haryana to have 19 candidates selected in top 100
The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride for Haryana that 63 candidates of the state have been selected in the Civil Services Examination results of the year 2022; among which 19 candidates are in the top 100. He said that the selection of 32 boys and 31 girls in this examination is also a meaningful result of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign.
He said that seven officers selected in the Haryana Civil Services have also cleared the UPSC examination and this includes a sub-inspector under training of the Haryana Police.
“The candidates should adopt a liberal character during the training itself and work without discrimination in the spirit of social service, keeping Antyodaya as the main goal, considering the whole country as one's family; so that they can become a source of inspiration for other youth,” said the Chief Minister.
Main aim of civil services not wealth but social service: Sanjeev Kaushal
Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal said that there is no better alternative to hard work and ability than civil services. “But the path of civil services is very tough and challenging. Civil services should not be done considering money as the main goal but social service. Brotherhood among each other is very important. Even during training, we are taught to socialize, no matter in which state of the country we are working,” he said.
Police service teaches discipline and sense of duty: PK Agrawal
Director General of Police, Sh. PK Agrawal said that the selected youth of Haryana will work as brand ambassadors across the country. He said that police service should be voluntarily chosen so that the society also gets the benefit of their services; as it teaches the lesson of discipline and duty. He said that this time, five candidates have been selected from police families, which is a matter of pride for the police administration.
Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. DS Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V. Umashankar, ADGP CID, Sh. Alok Mittal, Chief Minister's Special Officer (Community Policing and Outreach) and DIG, Sh. Pankaj Nain, along with other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
