Chandigarh, May 26 – On the concluding day of his three-day tour to Mahendragarh district, Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal gifted two ambitious projects amounting to Rs 8.53 crore at the Jan Samvad Programme held at Satnali village on Friday.
In a ceremony held at the Satnali Community Centre, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of a micro irrigation project worth Rs 8.21 crore for four villages. In addition, the newly built Government Veterinary Hospital building, which cost Rs 32.35 lakh, was inaugurated and dedicated to the locals.
Sh. Manohar Lal stated that in the last few years, the present state government has done remarkable work to promote micro irrigation. This has also greatly aided groundwater conservation. This scheme is proving to be a boon for farmers. The government is encouraging many initiatives aimed at irrigating the parched terrain of southern Haryana in order to find a lasting solution to the water crisis in this region, asserted Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Chief Minister said that in order to move this micro irrigation programme ahead, a target of installing 1000 piezometers in villages by identifying low-water areas has been established under the Atal Bhujal Yojana for the year 2023-24.
He stated that this year there is a proposal to execute micro irrigation projects on 2.5 lakh acres of agricultural land and that 4000 on-farm water tanks would be built to facilitate this. A particular action plan has also been developed for the installation of various structures for rainwater harvesting, which would certainly help in increasing the groundwater level, added Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Chief Minister said that small and large veterinary institutes are being established around the state to ensure timely healthcare facilities for cattle. More veterinary institutes are opening every year to meet the needs of livestock owners. The newly constructed Veterinary Hospital at Satnali has also been included in this list so that cattle rearers can get quality veterinary services at their doorstep.
The Public Health Engineering Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal, MP, Sh. Dharmbir Singh, OSD to Chief Minister, Sh. Jawahar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, Ms. Monika Gupta, and SP, Sh. Vikrant Bhushan also remained present on this occasion.
