Chandigarh, April 11: Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that as Maharaja Ajmeedh's birth anniversary is celebrated on the same day of Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti; it will be added to the official holiday list along with Mahrshi Valmiki Jayanti. The Chief Minister made the announcement during a programme organized by Maidh Kshatriya Sunar Sabha in Karnal on Tuesday and also unveiled the statue of Maharaja Ajmeedh.

Addressing the gathering, he said that Maharaja Ajmeedh was a great man, who established the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan. “There was a demand to make a chowk in his name in Karnal, which has been fulfilled by the Municipal Corporation,” he added.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that the Maidh Kshatriya Sunar Sabha, Karnal has also demanded a plot for the institution; which has been given through Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran. He said that the Maidh Kshatriya Sunar Sabha is a hardworking society. “I am happy that this society, which believes in hard work, is continuously moving forward on the path of progress,” he said.

Earlier, the Chief Minister was welcomed and felicitated by president, Maidh Kshatriya Sunar Sabha, Karnal, Ram Bhajan Verma. He also placed some demands related to the society before the Chief Minister.

On the occasion, Gharaunda MLA, Sh. Harvinder Kalyan, Indri MLA, Sh. Ram Kumar Kashyap, Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Anish Yadav, SP, Sh. Shashank Kumar Sawan and other senior officers were present.
