Chandigarh, January 30 - Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal went to meet the family members of the State's daughter Shafali Verma, India U-19 Captain, at her residence in Rohtak.
Congratulating them for their daughter's historic achievement, Sh. Manohar Lal said, the Country and State are proud of Haryana's daughter and her team for creating history by winning the first-ever ICC trophy.
Speaking to the family members, the Chief Minister said that the Indian women's cricket team has won the Under-19 World Cup under the leadership of Haryana's daughter, which is a matter of pride for every Haryanvi.
Sh. Manohar Lal extended best wishes to the young Indian squad for a bright future.
During this meeting, Shafali's grandfather, Sh. Sant Lal Verma, and father, Sh. Sanjeev Verma honoured the Chief Minister with a shawl.
Notably, the Indian Women's Under-19 Cricket team, led by Shafali Verma created history and won the World Cup by defeating England. In the final match played on 29 January, the Indian team defeated England by seven wickets. With this India became the first country to win this tournament.
