Chandigarh, December 8: Witnessing the sporting talent of the players of Kayaking and Canoeing at Damdama Lake in Gurugram’s Sohna, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today announced a grant of Rs 21 lakh from Haryana State CSR Trust to the Development and Sports Promotion Committee, Sohna.
Stating it to be a matter of pride, the Chief Minister said, “Today the talents of our rural areas are bringing laurels to the country as well as at the international level with their untiring hard work. That is why it is necessary that better facilities should be provided to the players associated with this sport; so that they can improve their performance at national and international level.” Union Minister of State, Sh. Rao Inderjit Singh was also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister also comprehended the nuances related to the sport of Kayaking and Canoeing from coach Jaideep. During this, former state president of Kayaking and Canoeing association, Sh. Rishi Raj Dangi was also present.
It is noteworthy that the players from Haryana had won three gold, three silver and four bronze medals in various competitions at the 32nd National Canoeing Competition and 10th Dragon Boat Race Championship held in Bhopal in May. These players were given a grand welcome on reaching Gurugram. Honouring the winners of these competitions, Union Minister of State, Sh. Rao Inderjit Singh in August had announced to give an amount of Rs 11 lakh to the Development and Sports Promotion Committee, Sohna.
