Chandigarh, November 29 – Radical transformation brought about by the Manohar Lal government to catapult Haryana's growth on the development track today got a major boost when, President Smt. Droupadi Murmu called Haryana "one of the fastest developing states in the country."
Inaugurating the International Gita Mahotsav (IGM)-2022 in Kurukshetra today the President minced no words to applaud the development works of the Haryana Government.
Earlier, she inaugurated the International Gita Seminar organized at Kurukshetra University and thanked Lord Krishna that her first visit as President in Haryana had begun from "Dharmakshetra-Kurukshetra".
"I am spiritually enlightened as I had performed Yagna on the holy banks of Brahma Sarovar during this IGM-2022 today," said the President.
Later addressing the gathering, the President said that Kurukshetra is a holy land. Vedas and Puranas were written on the banks of the Saraswati River. In the Mahabharata, this region of Kurukshetra has been compared to heaven. She said that even Mahatma Gandhi and Lokmanya Tilak took guidance from the holy book Gita. She also lauded the Manohar Lal-led government for successfully organizing IGM since the year 2016.
Meanwhile, this year, Nepal is the partner country, while Madhya Pradesh is the partner state.
"It is really good to see that people from not only the country but also from abroad have reached this grand event. For this, Haryana Government, especially Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal and his entire team deserve big congratulations," said Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
The President inaugurates and lays the foundation stone laying of three projects
President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu while launching Nirogi Haryana Yojana also praised the Haryana Chief Minister's vision of providing free-of-cost comprehensive health check-ups of the Antyodaya in the first phase.
She said that by constructing Sirsa medical college, the State Government has taken another pioneering step to provide best-of-the-class health services to the masses.
This commendable step taken by the Chief Minister reminds us of the message of the Gita that those engaged in the welfare of all beings are blessed by the Almighty, said Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
The President also praised the state government's plan of starting the e-ticketing system for Haryana Roadways commuters while using IT.
Kisan, Jawan and Daughters of Haryana have included the teachings of Gita in their lives
The President said that it is a matter of great pride for Haryana that the Kisan, Jawan and Daughters of the State have included the message of the Bhagavad Gita to do their work in their lives and are shining bright at national and international levels.
She said that Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is an international book, it has been translated into many languages all over the world, and the number of articles written on Shrimad Bhagavad Gita would hardly have been written on any other book. Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is a spiritual guide for us.
Ensure the message of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita reaches every house and village, President
The President said that Shrimad Bhagavad Gita gives us the message to do hard work and overcome laziness. Giving the example of Mahatma Gandhi, the President said that the father of the nation considered Shrimad Bhagavad Gita as his mother as the teachings taught by this holy book have always guided him in times of crisis.
"We should propagate and spread the teachings and message of the Gita to every house and village so that people can follow the right path"the President said.
Gita has the essence of religion and spirituality, Governor
Haryana Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya said that Gita has the essence of religion and spirituality. If properly read, Gita can also give the world a solution to social evils like terrorism. He said that when conflict and anarchy spread in the world, then peace can be brought only through the teachings of Gita.
He said that if a man is surrounded by challenges and conflicts and feels confused, then Gita certainly becomes his guiding light.
He said that the holy Gita has been published in 75 languages worldwide and its acceptance has been certified. He said that there is no scripture as highly valued as the Gita.
The presence of the President at IGM-2022 doubled the excitement

Chief Minister felicitates the President
The Chief Minister said that in the first verse of the Gita, Kurukshetra has been given the name of Dharmakshetra as Lord Shri Krishna chose this place to preach the universal message of Bhagavad Gita.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to the President for inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of three main projects of Haryana.
Sh. Manohar Lal said that under the Nirogi Haryana scheme, free health check-ups of the poor would be done and 25 health parameters have been fixed for this. This scheme would certainly benefit the masses.
He said that realizing the dream of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, Haryana Government has set a target of setting up a medical college in every district of the state. Continuous work is going in this direction and taking this work further, the foundation stone of Medical College is being laid in the Sirsa district.
Along with ensuring infrastructural development, we have preserved cultural and mythological heritage - Chief Minister
The Chief Minister said that along with infrastructural development, the State Government has preserved cultural and mythological heritage. While moving forward in this direction Kurukshetra is being developed as per Swadesh Darshan Yojana and Krishna Circuit. The teachings of Gita have been included in the school curriculum.
“We are constantly trying to ensure that the life values of our great culture reach the new and young generation,” added Sh. Manohar Lal.
On this occasion, a short film based on three development projects of Haryana made by the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department was also shown. Along with this, Governor Bandaru Dattatraya also released a souvenir related to Bhagavad Gita that was specially prepared by Kurukshetra University and presented the first copy to the President.
In the seminar, the President presented Nirog Yojana cards to two beneficiaries including Naseeb Singh (60) and Moksh (3) both residents of Kurukshetra.
The President also launched the e-ticketing and National Common Mobility Card and Principal Secretary, Sh. Navdeep Singh Virk also presented the first e-ticket and mobility card to the President.
Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal, Gita Manishi Swami Shri Gyananand Ji Maharaj, Maharishi Govind Giri Maharaj of Ved Vyas Pratishthan also shared their valuable views in the International Gita Jayanti Seminar.
On this occasion Ambala MP, Sh. Rattan Lal Kataria, Minister of State for Sports, S. Sandeep Singh, Kurukshetra MP, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, MLA, Sh.
