Chandigarh, July 29- Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today accorded approval for a special package of incentives amounting to Rs. 67.62 crores in favour of M/s Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL).
A decision in this regard was taken in the 14th Haryana Enterprises Promotion Board (HEPB) meeting held under the Chairmanship of Sh. Manohar Lal.
Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala, Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Sh. Anoop Dhanak also remained present on this occasion.
The Chief Minister said that this new facility would further strengthen the existing ecosystem of automobile manufacturing in Haryana and create job opportunities for the youth of Haryana.
The company has an existing facility at Kherkhi Dhaula, Gurugram with an investment of Rs. 1,000 crore that caters to customers in India and overseas. This facility has an annual production capacity of 11 lakh two-wheelers. This facility has created approximately 3500 Jobs within the State. The new facility will add to their existing capacity in Gurugram.
Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Sh. Vijayendra Kumar informed that Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL) is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, which is engaged in the manufacturing and market of ‘Suzuki’ brand two-wheelers. A state-of-the-art manufacturing plant will be established at Kharkhoda, Sonipat with an investment of more than Rs. 2000 crore. This plant would generate employment for approximately 2000 persons in the State. Around 100 acres of land has been allotted to SMIPL in May this year.
He said that the proposed project is set up a new Greenfield project for manufacturing two-wheelers including engines at IMT Kharkhoda. This facility will support increasing exports from the State.
In the meeting, Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sh. D S Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Sh. T.V.S.N. Prasad, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V. Umashankar, Director General, Industries and Commerce Department, Sh. Mandeep Singh Brar and other officers also remained present.
