Chandigarh, June 1 – In the last seven and a half years the state of Haryana, under the leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has been effectively able to extend secure and respectable social environment to the people belonging to the Scheduled Castes(SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Backward Classes (BC).
The members of the SC/ST and BC Committee stated this while expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, Sh Manohar Lal for providing electronic gadgets like tablets and laptops to the people belonging to the economically weaker sections of the society during the COVID-crisis and for taking keen interest in uplifting the people belonging to SC/ST and BC communities.
The Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal advised the members of the Committee to motivate the people belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes to seek compensation being provided by the State Government under various welfare schemes online rather than moving file in person. He said that the online transfer of the compensation is better as it directly reaches the account of the beneficiary.
This came to light during a meeting held under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal with the members of the SC/ST and BC Committee. During the meeting, Sh. Manohar Lal spoke to the members of the Committee in detail with regard to the implementation of various welfare schemes for the SC/ST and BC and the benefits being extended to them. He asked the members to prepare a list of cases pertaining to atrocities, murder and rape wherein compensation is still pending.
The members of the Committee said that it was for the first time that an initiative had been taken by any government for the welfare of the SC/ST and BC communities and such a Committee had been constituted. They elaborated that during COVID crisis the children of such families were unable to study as they did not have expensive electronic gadgets like tablets, laptops and mobile phones due to financial issues. It was then the Chief Minister took the matter seriously and enhanced the budget for the same and subsequently the tablets, laptops were provided to all such families. The children were thus able to pursue their studies even during the COVID crisis through online mode by using these gadgets.
Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. D.S. Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary Finance and Planning Departments, Sh. T.V.S.N Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, Sh. Mahavir Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department, Sh. Vineet Garg and members of the SC/ST and BC Committee were present in the meeting.
