Chandigarh, November 11: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Dudhola will play an important role in the 'Mission Antyodaya' being run by the state government. In this series, 170 'Antyodaya Gramodaya Melas' will be organized from November 22 to December 15, through which a target has been set to provide employment to around one lakh people.
Sh. Manohar Lal said this while presiding over a review meeting regarding the progress of the ongoing works in the University today. Skill Development and Industrial Training Minister, Sh. Mool Chand Sharma was also present in the meeting.
The Chief Minister directed the Vice Chancellor of the University, Sh. Raj Nehru, that in every 'Antyodaya Gramodaya Mela', 10 employees of Skill University should put up their stalls and inform the people about their skilling courses the University is offering so that the candidates coming in these Melas can get employment according to their skills.
He said that students should be sent for skilling or training in those training institutes that are affiliated with the University. Besides this, the data of the training institutes in which the students are sent for the training should also be maintained by the University. For this, a dedicated cell should be made in the University to monitor all these activities. He also advised the Vice Chancellor to give complete details of all skilling courses.
Sh. Manohar Lal said that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of this University on November 19, 2018 with the goal of providing skill-related education to the youth as per the need of the times. Its transit office is in Gurugram while its permanent campus is being built at Dudhola in district Palwal. University planning is divided into three phases. Its construction work has been divided into 6 packages and about 68 percent work of the academic blocks has been completed. This University will prove to be a milestone in taking forward the Prime Minister's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' campaign.
Sh. Manohar Lal said that the University is working with an industry-integrated 'Earn-While Learn' model, which provides opportunities to the students to earn while studying so that they can meet their expenses. It provides students with exposure to the world of real employment along with ample experience so that they can get better employment in future.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister was apprised that the University has trained about 4000 students through certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, degree, short term programmes, student development programmes, etc. The University is already running 28 regular programs with 31 short term programmes in the academic session 2021-22.
The University is entering into MoUs with Maruti India Limited/Reliance/Healthians/
Additional Chief Secretary, Finance and Planning Department, Sh. T.V.S.N Prasad, Principal Secretary, Skill Development and Industrial Training, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta and other senior officials of the State Government and University also remained present in the meeting.
