Chandigarh, November 10– Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has always laid special stress on promoting, nurturing and creating harmonious environment for sports in Haryana. State Sports Policy formulated under his direction has received appreciation by the players of International level. In this episode, the country's well-known fencer and international player Ms. Bhavani Devi expressed her views wholeheartedly in an online meeting with the Chief Minister today. Ms. Bhavani Devi is the first woman fencer in the country to participate in the Olympic Games where she showcased her talent for the country in the recent Tokyo-Olympic Games.
In a virtual meeting with the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, Ms. Bhavani Devi was very impressed by the Sports Policy of Haryana. She appreciated the initiative of the State Government to organize National Fencing Competition in Sonipat from December 25 to December 28, 2021 and said that Haryana was already a leader in sports like Wrestling, Boxing, Kabaddi but by organising this National Fencing Competition, Haryana will not only motivate players from the State but also motivate the fencing players from across the country.
Ms. Bhavani Devi appreciated Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal's inclination towards fencing and said that this is the first time that a Chief Minister of any state is taking such interest in traditional sport like fencing. She also assured the Chief Minister of bringing medals in fencing in Paris-Olympic Games and said that due to best efforts of Haryana Government, more medals are expected in future Olympic Games.
