Chandigarh, October 2: Giving a big sigh of relief to the paddy farmers, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today announced that the procurement of Paddy in the State will certainly commence from October 3, 2021.
The Chief Minister made this announcement while interacting with media persons after meeting Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Sh. Ashwini Kumar Choubey in New Delhi today.
The Chief Minister said that at first the procurement of Kharif crop was scheduled to begin from October 1, 2201, but due to heavy rains, the Centre had postponed the procurement till October 11, 2021.
“In Haryana maximum crop has already reached the Mandis for procurement. Therefore taking an important decision in the interest of the farmers who have harvested their crops and have brought it to Mandis a request was made to Sh. Ashwini Kumar Choubey for allowing the State Government to start the procurement from October 3, 2021. I am happy that he accepted our request,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.
Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. J.P Dalal, MP, Sh. Ramesh Kaushik, MLA Gharaunda, Sh. Harvinder Kalyan, MLA Rai, Sh. Mohan Lal also accompanied Chief Minister during his meeting with Sh. Ashwini Kumar Choubey.
“At many places protests have been organized demanding to start the procurement early hence keeping in view the demands raised by the farmers and further to avoid any inconvenience to them, procurement of Paddy will now begin from October 3, 2021. I hope that the farmers will now stop their protest, said the Chief Minister.
