Chandigarh, September 5 - The Teachers’ Day will be celebrated in the state of Haryana as ‘Shiksha Parv’ till September 17 and this festival will be dedicated to honour the teachers, who are also called the ‘nation builders’.
Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said this during a programme organized at Indira Gandhi University at Mirpur in Rewari district today.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of developmental projects worth Rs 47.27 crore at Indira Gandhi University, Mirpur and hoisted the National Flag in the University campus as well.
While greeting the people of the state on Teachers' Day, Sh. Manohar Lal said that on the birth anniversary of former President and educationist, Sh. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan today, we remember our teachers.
While elaborating on the significant role of a teacher in our lives he said that a teacher grooms and helps build our personality. He added that good education makes us good citizens which further helps in building a refined society. He further added that the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi has done several works like introduction of New Education Policy, introduction of Awards for Teachers at National-level and policies promoting skill development so as to enhance the respect of teachers. Thus, the ‘Shiksha Parv’ is just another way to render respect to teachers and it will be celebrated till September 17, which coincides with the birthday of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi.
Addressing a gathering at the programme organized on Teachers’ Day, the Chief Minister narrated inspiring anecdotes of former Prime Minister, Late. Lal Bahadur Shastri, former US President, Abraham Lincoln. He also remembered his favourite teacher, Sh. K.L. Gera and interacted with him telephonically during the programme to enquire about his well-being. He shared that whenever he visits Rewari, he always remembers his teacher.
Referring to the speech of Sant Kabir, he said that the brilliance of the Gurus is unmatched. He elaborated that Guru has countless qualities which cannot be penned.
The Chief Minister said that one has to move forward while serving the country and society and a teacher plays a pivotal role in giving a new direction to life. He said that the Corona pandemic has restricted our movement for the last one and a half years due to which online education is being imparted. But now, if the COVID third wave doesn’t occur then movement will be possible. He added that Corona seems to be receding now, due to which schools and colleges are gradually being opened in the State and in the coming time, the Education Department is moving towards opening all the institutions.
Congratulating the teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that when his Government was formed, about seven years ago, the teachers of the State used to visit ministers in Chandigarh for seeking transfers. However, the government has implemented the online transfer policy for teachers, due to which school teachers are now happy.
He further said that the Government has drafted an excellent Education Policy, through which youth are being groomed, trained and motivated for employment by sharpening their skills. The government has laid emphasis on skill development along with education. He shared that the first Vishwakarma Skill University in Haryana was opened in Dudhola, District Palwal.
He said that the farmers, jawans and wrestlers of Haryana are very competent and there is no one who can match up to them. The players of Haryana have broken all the records by outshining in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. He said that in the Paralympics so far only 12 medals were won, but this time 17 medals have been won in just 10 days of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Haryana Cooperation and Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Welfare Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal said that it is very important to have all the necessary facilities here as Indira Gandhi University (IGU) is established in Meerpur, Rural Zone. He also extended his best wishes on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
The Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi University, Prof. Surendra Kumar Gakhar welcomed the Chief Minister with a bouquet. Earlier, the Chief Minister performed Bhoomi Pujan for Maa Sharda Hostel, Indoor-Outdoor Stadium and also planted saplings in the premises. He also inaugurated the Master Plan of the University, Kutumb Alumni Organization Act, Wastewater Revision and Power Generation Model in the programme. The Chief Minister also released a book on Management by University Professor, Ritu Bajaj.
On this occasion, Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Sh. Om Prakash Yadav, Kosli MLA Laxman Singh Yadav, Ateli MLA Sitaram Yadav, HARCO Bank Chairman Dr. Arvind Yadav, BJP District President Hukam Chand Yadav, Municipal Council Rewari Chairperson Poonam Yadav and other dignitaries were present.
Foundation stone laid for these projects
Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal laid the foundation stone of IGU, Mirpur Phase-I of the Women's Hostel to be constructed on an area of 3720.70 square meters at a cost of Rs.8 crore, Indoor stadium to be built on an area of 1569.5 square meters at a cost of Rs.6.81 crore, outdoor stadium to be built on an area of 20274.04 square meters at a cost of Rs.6.92 crore, expansion of library at a cost of Rs 2.58 crore, residential complex expansion at a cost of Rs 3.64 crore and CV Raman Vigyan Bhawan to be constructed at a cost of Rs 20.21 crore.
