Chandigarh, April 26:  Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today directed the officers concerned to purchase additional available oxygen tankers and set up oxygen concentrators system as per the requirement, besides the quota of oxygen allocated by the Central Government.  

The Chief Minister gave these directions while presiding over the meeting of the state-level monitoring committee set up to control the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic held through video conferencing from Gurugram.

The Chief Minister said that a thorough examination of every COVID-19 patient visiting the hospital should be done. Besides this, the use of oxygen beds should also be rationalised.

He said that strict action will be taken against the hospitals which do not comply with the norms prescribed for COVID-19.  

The Chief Minister further directed that the Health Department should keep a close vigil on the hospitals across the state and  should also take steps to micromanage the situation.

During the meeting,  the Chief Minister was apprised about the steps taken by the Health Department for the containment of the COVID-19 spread. 

The Chief Minister further sought vital information about the district-wise allocation of oxygen and it's proper supply. 

He also said that the officials should ensure  rational use of oxygen supply in each district. District administration should also take care of other districts along with the requirements of their own districts, directed Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister was apprised that regular talks are being held with the industrialists to convert industrial oxygen plants into medical oxygen plants in the next few days. 

Increasing the stock of oxygen supply, speeding up the construction of dedicated COVID-19 hospitals at new locations, purchase of oxygen concentrators and spot purchase of oxygen, were some of the major issues that were discussed in detail during the meeting. 

Oxygen Concentrator System  to reduce the burden on Hospitals 

The Chief Minister said that despite the improvement in health condition of the patients, they are not being discharged from the hospital, for this the implementation of  oxygen concentrator system would certainly prove to be beneficial.  

He also directed the Health Department to adopt the necessary procedure for purchasing the concentrators. These concentrators will prove to be boon for home isolated COVID-19 positive patients. 

In the meeting, Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sh. D.S Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research Department, Sh. Alok Nigam, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Sh. Rajeev Arora, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V. Umashankar, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Director General, Information Public Relations and Languages Department, Dr. Amit Agrawal and senior officers of other departments were present.
