Chandigarh, February 3- In a major relief to employees of Cooperative Sugar Mill, Bhuna, Haryana Government has decided to revive the posts of various Cooperative Sugar Mills and Cooperative Societies and to re-appoint them.

This decision was taken in a meeting held recently presided over by Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal.

The employees met Cooperation Minister Dr. Banwari Lal and Chairman of Haryana Bureau of Public Enterprises, Mr. Subhash Barala and expressed gratitude to the government for providing them relief by taking the landmark decision.

Cooperation Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal said that by reviving the posts of the State Cooperation Sugar Mills, 109 employees of various Sugar Mills have been appointed and two employees have retired. Besides this, the employees who are likely to attain superannuation till December 31, 2025 and those who are not qualified for any of the posts, such 159 employees have been sent to Sugar Mills on retainership. Moreover, these employees will be called whenever the concerned Sugar Mills will require their services. He further added that the appointment of the remaining 18 employees is in process.

Chairman, Haryana Bureau of Public Enterprises, Mr. Subash Barala said that 237 employees of the Cooperative Sugar Mills and Cooperative Societies have already been appointed on the revived posts according to their qualification.

Mr. Barala said that the Bhuna Cooperative Sugar Mill was liquidated due to shortage of sugarcane and huge financial losses in the year 2006. Thereafter, in a meeting of Special High Powered Committee held on November 9, 2006 an amount of Rs. 40.25 crore was awarded to Bhuna Cooperative Sugar Mill along with all employees on "as is where is" basis and was sold to M/s Wahid Sandhar Sugar Limited, Phagwara. However, most of the employees did not join the new management and sought to accommodate them in cooperatives and government departments.

The Chairman of the Public Enterprises Bureau said that the present Haryana government is taking steps to ensure development of the people of the state and it is due to the efforts of the state government that the employees have been re-employed.
