Chandigarh, December 29: Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr. Sandeep Singh said that the government is constantly working to improve Sports Policy of the State.
He said that the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has given a New Year Bonanza by increasing monthly amount for the award winning sportspersons. This step will certainly encourage the youth of the state towards sports.
Minister of State for Sports, Mr. Sandeep Singh said that till now, the State Government was giving Rs. 5000 per month to Arjun Awardees, but now the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has announced that from January 1, 2021, Arjun Awardees in the State will be getting Rs. 20,000 per month.
The Minister said that along with this, the monthly honourarium amount of Dronacharya Awardees and Dhyanchand Award winners has also been increased from Rs. 5000 to Rs.20,000. Similarly, till now Bhima Award winners were given a one time prize amount of Rs. five lakh but now along with this reward amount, Bhim Awardees will be given Rs. 5000 per month.
He informed that the players winning the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award given by the Union Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs will also be given Rs 20,000 per month thousand from 1 January 2021. Earlier, the winning awardees of Tenzing Norgay award were given a one time prize amount. They did not had any facility of getting a monthly honourarium but now these players will be getting Rs.20,000 monthly.
The Minister said that 80 Arjun Awardees, 15 Dronacharya Awardees and nine Dhyanchand Awardees are in the list. In this way as many as 104 award winners will benefit from this decision.
He said that in order to provide better facilities to the players, the state government is going to amend the Sports Policy soon.
