Chandigarh, November 12 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has directed officers that to complete all the work required for education and drinking water in Mewat region on priority basis. Besides this, he also directed the officers concerned to hand over eight Mewat model schools being run under Mewat Development Authority to the Education Department so as to ensure that education quality in the area can be further improved. He said that the shortage of teachers in the Mewat district should be resolved on priority basis.

The Chief Minister was presiding over the 30th meeting of Mewat Development Board here today. Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala and Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes Welfare Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal and MLAs of Nuh district were also present in the meeting.

The Chief Minister said that till the recruitment of regular teachers in Mewat cadre is completed, registration of retired teachers as well as educated youth on Saksham portal should be done and they should be engaged for teaching work.

The Chief Minister while directing the officers of the Education and Health Department said that the work which the department can do at their levels should not be included in the agenda of the Mewat Development Board.

He directed that along with the Mewat Development Board’s budget the maximum share of State budget received under the Jal Jeevan Mission should be spent in Mewat district. Besides this, Chief Minister has directed the officers concerned to upgrade educational institutions through mapping so that the Mewat youth can be motivated towards higher education. He further directed that the girls’ hostel in Khanpur valley should be re-opened so that the drop-out rate of girls there can be reduced.

Mr. Manohar Lal said that in the five Hospitality Management Institutes opened in the state nominal fee should be charged from the students coming from Mewat district. Besides this, education subsidy should be provided to them.

On the matter regarding renewal of driving licenses, Mr. Manohar Lal said that license of any person registered on the SARTHI portal should be renewed after complying the condition of one month. Regarding the license of heavy vehicles, he said completing three conditions would be made mandatory, which include that the applicant should be literate, should have a license of light vehicle and should have completed training in Haryana Roadways. He said that training for license can be taken in any district.

Chief Minister was informed that 100 sanitary napkins will be provided free of cost to the girl students studying in 332 Government Middle, High, Senior Secondary Schools, KGBVs, Mewat Model Schools and SHKM Government Medical College, Nalhar and General Hospital, Mandikhera, Nuh every year.

Chief Minister said that the officers of Mewat Development Board should give their opinion about new schemes that can be started in Mewat area in the next one month so that additional development of the area can be done.

Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, gave a presentation on the agenda of the meeting.

Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. D.S. Dhesi, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. V. Umashankar, Deputy Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mrs. Ashima Brar and Administrative Secretaries of various departments, Government and non-official members of the Mewat Development Board were also present in the meeting.
