Chandigarh October 1: Haryana Government has decided to celebrate “Swachhta Pakhwada” in all cities of the State from October 2, 2020 to October 17, 2020 to mark the 151st Birth Anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal will inaugurate the “Swachhta Pakhwada” from Panchkula tomorrow that is October 2, 2020.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Urban Local Bodies Department said that Member of Parliament (MP), Ministers, MLA and other dignitaries would simultaneously inaugurate the “Swachhta Pakhwada” in different districts of the State while strictly following the social distancing norms in view the current Covid-19 situation.

He said that besides Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Mr Gian Chand Gupta and Member, State Level Task Force (SLTC), Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Mr Narender Pachaar would be present at the inauguration of “Swachhta Pakhwada” in Panchkula.

He said that similarly, Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Dushyant Chautala and Member, SLTF (SBM) Mr Ved Panchal would inaugurate the “Swachhta Pakhwada” in district Jind, Health Minister, Mr Anil Vij in district Ambala, Education Minister, Mr Kanwar Pal and Member, SLTF (SBM) Mr Tejinder Singh in district Yamunanagar, Transport Minister, Mr Mool Chand Sharma in district Faridabad, Power Minister, Mr Ranjit Singh and Member, SLTF (SBM) Mr Gurcharan Dass in district Sirsa, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr Jai Parkash Dalal in district Bhiwani, Cooperation Minister, Dr Banwari Lal and Member, SLTF (SBM) Dr. R.K. Jangra in district Rewari, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Mr Om Prakash Yadav in district Mahendergarh and Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Mrs Kamlesh Dhanda and Member, SLTF (SBM) Mr Rajesh Kumar in district Kaithal.

The spokesman said that while Minister of State for Archaeology and Museum, Mr Anoop Dhanak would inaugurate the “Swachhta Pakhwada” in district Fatehabad, Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr Sandeep Singh and Member, SLTF (SBM) Mr Joginder Singh would launch the event in district Kurukshetra, Chairman, SLTF (SBM) Mr Mahipal Dhanda in district Gurugram, Vice Chairman, SLTF (SBM) Mr Subhash Chandra and Member SLTF (SBM) Mr Pawan Sharma in district Karnal, MP Dr Arvind Kumar Sharma in district Rohtak, MP Mr Sanjay Bhatia and Member, SLTF (SBM) Mr Subhash Trehan in district Panipat, MP Mr Brijendra Singh in district Hisar and MLA Mr Deepak Mangla and Member, SLTF (SBM) Mr Ved Parkash in district Palwal.

He said that all the Commissioners of Municipal Corporations and District Municipal Commissioners in the State have been directed to carry out various activities in their respective cities during the “Swachhta Pakhwada”. These include mass awareness drives and citizen engagement initiatives including cleanliness drives, cleaning of the chocked sewers as well as open drains and maintenance of the sewerage system. He said that members of The State Level Task Force under Swachh Bharat Mission and other local representatives of the area would also be involved during the campaign.
