Chandigarh, September 14: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal has congratulated the people of the State on the occasion of ‘Hindi Diwas’ and said that on this day today we should take pledge to increase the use of Hindi in our daily lives and further enhance its prestige.
In a message issued here today on the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Mr Manohar Lal said that Hindi language is not only a means of expression of emotions and thoughts, but it also reminds us of our rich heritage.
The Chief Minister said that on this day in the year 1949, the Constituent Assembly accepted Hindi as the official language of the country in Devanagari script. Since then, Hindi is being widely accepted at international forums also. He said that former Prime Minister, late Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee also played a vital role in this direction. His address in Hindi in the United Nations General Assembly is still remembered today, he added.
