Chandigarh, August 10 – While adhering to the zero-tolerance policy of the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has submitted a report about inquiries registered in the month of June, 2020, on the directions of the state government and 19 inquiries which were completed. The State Vigilance Bureau had started a campaign to curtail the tendency of government employees to indulge in corruption and these inquiries were initiated under this campaign.

Giving information in this regard an official spokesperson of the Bureau said that during the month of June this year three government employees were caught red-handed while accepting bribe money starting from Rs 8,000 to Rs 13,000 and separate cases were registered against them under Prevention of Corruption Act.

He revealed that the employees against whom the cases have been registered include, Idrish of Hodal, working as Forester, for accepting a bribe of Rs 13,000, Harbhawan Chopra, working as Assistant in Haryana State Pollution Control Board, Panchkula for accepting a bribe of Rs. 11,000 and Surender, working as Senior Shift Attendant UHBVN, Sonepat for accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000.

The spokesperson said that out of nine inquiries, a departmental inquiry has been recommended against six gazetted officers and 22 non-gazetted officers and the Bureau has recovered Rs. 5,61,603 from three private persons. In another inquiry, an amount of Rs 8,83,443 has been recovered from six private persons. Besides this, in another inquiry it has been recommended to file a criminal case against a gazetted officer and it has been recommended to recover Rs 1,52,565 as well. In addition, in one more inquiry, a criminal case has been recommended against a gazetted officer while in six inquiries the charges could not be proved.
