Chandigarh, July 25- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal while boosting sports facilities for sportspersons in the State, on Saturday approved an amount of Rs 1.35 crore for the construction of a boxing hall. Besides this, he also announced that six badminton courts will be constructed in the complex premises.
The Chief Minister made this announcement after inaugurating a Facilitation Centre at Karan Stadium, in Karnal district built at a cost of Rs. 3.25 crore. Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr. Sandeep Singh was also present in the programme.
On this occasion, Mr. Manohar Lal also honoured 22 students of Karnal district who had excelled in Board of School Education Haryana’s class XII Examination by giving them appreciation certificates. The programme was organized by the Education, Department.
In the context of other demands raised related to Sports Complex in Karnal, Chief Minister said that today he will be digitally interacting with Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mr. Kiren Rijiju regarding sports facilities and it is expected that Haryana may get the desired sports facilities for the State, which would certainly help in fulfilling all these demands.
On the demand raised for large sports stadium of International Level to be constructed for sports like cricket in Karnal district, he said that it is a matter of consideration at the moment. Referring to the cash incentive being given for playing traditional sports in the country, he called upon the players to join the traditional sports.
The Chief Minister said that emphasis is being laid on making Haryana a Sports Hub, under which National Level Sports infrastructure, training and coaching facilities will be provided in every corner of the State.
He said that the Sports Policy implemented in the State is the best in the country under which players have many facilities like cash rewards and reservation in jobs. He said that in all the Asian Games or Commonwealth or even in International Sports Competitions, players of Haryana have always excelled by winning the maximum number of medals for the country and have brought laurels to the State.
He said that if the players continue to practice with more hardwork and dedication then their performance at National and International Level will certainly become better. He assured that the State Government will provide all possible help to the sportsmen to ensure the same.
The sports facilitation centre at Karan Stadium has been constructed in about 20895 sq.ft area. On its ground floor, a VIP lounge, Junior Facilitation Officer(JFO) Room, Gym, Player Nutrition Centre, Locker / Changing Room for players, Practice Hall and toilet facilities for boys, girls and persons with disabilities have been provided.
Similarly, Sport Knowledge Centre, rooms for JFO and staff, changing rooms and toilets are available on the first floor. On the second floor, caretaker room, changing room for girls and boys, toilets for boys, girls and persons with disabilities have been made.
