Chandigarh, June 22- While highlighting the importance of the role of teachers in self-reliant India, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today urged the teachers not to limit education only to three 'R' of basic school education ie reading, writing, and arithmetic, rather focus on the overall development of the students. He urged the teachers to make education job oriented and instill values in them so that students can become cultured and self-reliant.
The Chief Minister said this while addressing the valedictory session of ‘Faculty Development Programme on MOOCs and MOODLE Based Learning Management System’ at Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur, Rewari held digitally here today.
The Chief Minister, who was the Chief Guest of the function, shared his views on the topic of ‘Role of teachers in Atamnirbhar Bharat'.
In his address, the Chief Minister said, “Due to COVID-19, the lifestyle, and daily routine of everyone has changed drastically. The students and teachers were also affected by it. But it is a matter of great pride that keeping aside the adverse effect of this crisis, the teachers, through various online platforms, effectively ensured that the students do not suffer academically.”
He said that today the world is witnessing unprecedented and medical emergency times due to COVID-19 Pandemic and now the teachers, while understanding their responsibility, have come on the frontline and contributed in preparing the students as nation builders in the future.
He said that the main motto behind the idea of Atamnirbhar Bharat as given by Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi is that every citizen should give their pivotal contribution in Nation building. Therefore, it is the role of teachers to prepare patriotic citizens who can give a valuable contribution in the development of the Nation. “We should move forward with this resolve that we have to take our country and Nation ahead on the path of progress and more we imbibe the spirit of culture and value among students, the more speedily we will move forward,” he added.
The Chief Minister said that the ‘Faculty Development Programme on MOOCs and MOODLE Based Learning Management System’ organized by the university will definitely prove to be very helpful for teachers in the online learning process.
He said that in the time of Corona crisis, along with launching various online systems for education, the State Government has also launched online platforms for making government services accessible to the people for their convenience.
