Chandigarh, December 15 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that a bridge would be constructed at a cost of Rs 110 crore over Yamuna River near Hasanpur in Palwal district to connect with Uttar Pradesh. While referring to his meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held yesterday, the Chief Minister said that with the construction of this bridge, Hodal area of district Palwal will have better connectivity with Khurja and Aligarh of neighboring State of Uttar Pradesh.

Mr Manohar Lal informed this after inaugurated the newly constructed building of Government College Hodal in district Palwal today.

Speaking on this occasion, he said that this building is also an example of transparent and good governance system. He said an amount of Rs 22.17 crore was sanctioned for the construction of this building but, within two years, about Rs 16 crore was spent on the construction of the five-storey building and other resources whereas Rs two crore would be spent on other requirements of the complex. As a result of this, there is a saving of about Rs four crore as compared to the sanctioned budget. This college has been constructed by Haryana Police Housing Corporation.

While referring to the bridge to be constructed on river Yamuna near Hasanpur, the Chief Minister said that with the construction of this bridge, the devotees going around the Braj 84 Kos would also be benefited. Stating that this bridge was a long pending demand of the people of the area, he said that link roads would also be built along this bridge. He said that four bridges would be constructed on river Yamuna including Hasanpur to strengthen connectivity between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. While the construction of the bridge connecting Manjawali in Faridabad to Noida by the National Highways Authority has been almost completed whereas, work is in progress at a rapid pace on projects in Panipat and Yamunanagar, he added.

Giving information about the initiative taken to resolve the ongoing land dispute between the farmers of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh near the Yamuna River, the Chief Minister said that there was something lacked at the time of Dixit Award. To sort out the same, there would soon be a joint meeting of the Revenue Officers of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, the two states would also build pillars in the Yamuna region with a share of Rs10 crore each.

He said that in the year 1980, about 1400 pillars were installed in the Yamuna river for marking of land, which were later damaged due to river flow and other reasons. Now both the states have decided to re-install these pillars. He said that similarly, there would be a high-level meeting of the officials of the irrigation department of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh regarding the water of Agra canal, which would surely benefit the farmers of Faridabad and Palwal.

On water quality of Agra Canal, the Chief Minister said that work is going on at a scheme at higher level in the NCR Planning Board for this work.

Regarding the damage caused to crops due to seasonal changes recently, the Chief Minister said that directions have already been given for conducting special Girdawari to assess the damage. Besides, the district administration has also been instructed to work with promptness to help the farmers. In addition, the work of registration under Pradhanmantri Fasal Bima Yojana would also be monitored for the convenience of farmers.
