Chandigarh, June 13 – Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that a state level function will be organised to honour outstanding sportspersons of the state, in Panchkula on June 24, 2019. The Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal will give away cash prizes worth Rs 90 crore to about 3,000 sportspersons winning medals in national and international competitions.
Mr. Vij said that sportspersons who have won medals in Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Para-Asian Games during the years 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 will be honoured in this function. The sportspersons of senior and junior categories, who could not be honoured previously due to certain reasons, will also be honoured in this function
The Minister said that after the formulation of the New Sports Policy 2015, many sportspersons have brought laurels to the state and the country at national and international levels. The present State Government has provided reservation to such sportspersons in Class III and IV jobs whereas reservation in Class I and II jobs has been provided to sportspersons, who have won medals in international competitions.
Mr. Vij said that the present State Government has increased the prize money of medal winning players in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and National Games. Apart from this, the prize money of medal winners in Olympic Games has also been increased. Under this, the prize money of the Olympic gold medalist has been increased from Rs. 5 crore to 6 crore, silver medalist from Rs. 3 crore to Rs. 4 crore, the bronze medalist from Rs. 2 crore to Rs. 2.50 crore and the prize money of participating sportspersons has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs.15 lakh.
Chandigarh June 13: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that the State level function of International Yoga Day - 2019 would be organized in Rohtak on June 21, 2019 in which Union Home Minister Mr Amit Shah would be the Chief Guest. As many as 21,000 people are expected to participate in the programme, he added.
Mr Manohar Lal was interacting with all the Deputy Commissioners of the State through video conferencing here today. He said that Ayush Department has made all necessary arrangements for this event.
The Chief Minister asked the DCs to make necessary arrangement for organizing Yoga Day functions at district and sub-division level in a befitting manner. He said that as Yoga has become a centre of attraction for the people, participation of people of all walks of life including employees, police personnel, home guards students of senior secondary schools and colleges should be ensured in the programms. Apart from this, people practicing Yoga in the parks should also be invited to participate in the events. The Patanjali Yog Peeth has already consented to participate in functions to be organized throughout the state that day, he added.
Among those present on this occasion included Chief Secretary Mr D.S Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr Rajesh Khullar, Deputy Principal Secretary Mrs Ashima Brar, Additional Chief Secretary Revenue and Disaster Management Mrs Keshni Anand Arora, Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Mrs Navraj Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary Home Mr S.S Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary School Education Mr P.K Das, Additional Chief Secretary Power Mr T.C Gupta, Principal Secretary Development and Panchayats Mr Sudhir Rajpal, Principal Secretary Irrigation and Water Resources Mr Anurag Rastogi, Managing Director, Haryana Power Generation Corporation and Commissioner, Karnal Division Mr Vineet Garg and other senior officers of the State Government.
