Chandigarh, November 5 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that the Agriculture bills, which have been recently passed by the Central Government are in the favour of farmers as the procurement of crops in the mandis will be done at Minimum Support Price as before. In Punjab, only paddy and wheat are procured at the Minimum Support Price, but apart from paddy and wheat, mustard, millet, moong, groundnut, sunflower, etc. are also procured in the mandis of Haryana and this may be the only state in country to procure these many crops.
The Chief Minister gave this information when Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda and other Congress MLAs opposed the Agriculture Bills during the first day of the ongoing session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today. He said that a vote of thanks should be passed in the House and the same should be sent to the Central Government.
The Chief Minister said that kharif crops are being procured in the mandis of Haryana for the last one month at the Minimum Support Price. This has neither closed the mandis nor has affected MSP. He said that Congress is only in favour of misleading and exploiting the farmers regarding Agricultural Bills. The Chief Minister challenged the Leader of the Opposition that the government is ready to discuss Agriculture Ordinances in the House tomorrow.
