- Chandigarh March 10: Israel has evinced keen interest in mutual cooperation with Haryana in the fields of education, innovation, policing, irrigation and dairy farming besides further strengthening the collaboration in various ongoing agriculture and horticulture projects.
- Ambassador of Israel, Mr Daniel Carmon who called on Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal here today invited him to visit Israel to attend ‘Agritech-2018’ scheduled to be held from May 8 to 10, 2018 to view the latest technology being adopted by Israel. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr O.P Dhankar was also present on this occasion.
- While referring to the centre of excellence set up in Haryana, the Chief Minister said that he has recently inaugurated the country’s first ‘Integrated Bee-keeping Development Centre’ set up under Indo-Israel project in Kurukshetra. He said that an outlet has been set up at the centre where honey and other horticulture products are being directly sold to the consumers. Apart from this, directions have been issued to sell these products on all the outlets of Haryana Fresh.
- Mr Daniel Carmon said that four centres of excellence have been set up in Haryana under the Indo-Israel project and work is underway for the setting up of fifth such centre. He expressed satisfaction with the cooperation from Haryana and hoped that this would go a long way in opening more such centre in the State. While appreciating the Centre of Excellence in Gharaunda, Karnal, he said that the Centre enjoys visit from other countries and they want the same centre in their countries.
- The Israel Ambassador requested the State Government to encourage the people of Haryana to join MASHAV courses in Israel Universities as there is lot of demand in the State for these courses. These are short term courses and entire expenditure would be borne by the University except the travel fare, he added. Besides, he also invited the students from Haryana under the Academic Scholarship scheme.
- Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr O.P Dhankar invited Mr Daniel Carmon to attend the 3rd Agri Leadership Summit to be held in Rohtak. He said that last year also, a delegation of Israel had participated in the summit.
- Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Dr Abhilaksh Likhi said that the State Government is also contemplating to open post harvest management centres in the State. He said that a delegation of Architect students of Israel visited the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today to watch the proceedings of the house.
- Director General, Horticulture Mr Arjun Saini was also present on this occasion.
