Chandigarh September 16- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has extended warm wishes and greetings to the people of the State and workers working in Haryana on the occasion of Lord Vishwakarma Jayanti, which is celebrated as State Labour Day on September 17.
Chief Minister called upon the workers to celebrate Lord Vishwakarma Jayanti with simplicity by mutual brotherhood, love, social harmony in view of on-going COVID-19 Pandemic situation.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala, who also holds the portfolio of Labour and Employment Department, also extended his greetings and said that workers play an important role in the development of the state.
In a message issued here today, the Chief Minister said that several welfare schemes are being formulated by the State Government for the upliftment of workers. Due to the hard work done by workers working in the State, better environment for industrial investment has been created in the State.
He said that as per the financial package announced by Haryana government during COVID-19 Pandemic, a financial aid of Rs 1000 per week is being given in five installments which is being directly deposited in the bank accounts of families of 3,50,621 construction workers.
The said amount has been disbursed by the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board from March 30, 2020. Likewise, Rs. 154 crore have been disbursed under this head by the Board, said the Chief Minister.
Apart from this, 'Haryana Silicosis Rehabilitation Policy, 2017' has been implemented for the welfare of workers suffering from silicosis disease. Under this eight schemes are being run for the welfare of workers and their families suffering from silicosis disease, he added.
The Chief Minister called upon all the craftsmen and workers to pledge to actively participate in the development of the state. He called upon the technical experts to contribute in the development of the State by displaying their skills as per the required standards in this competitive era.
Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala said that due to the tireless efforts of Haryana Government, especially via the Haryana Labour Welfare Board and Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board as many as 25 and 22 different welfare schemes are being run for the benefit of the workers and their dependents respectively.
He shared that financial assistance is provided under many schemes to the family of workers which includes financial assistance for motherhood and for education of children. He said that a financial assistance of Rs. 51000 is being given as Kanyadan and Rs. 21000 as shagun. He said that under Social Security, a grant of Rs 5 lakh is being provided to the dependents of the deceased workers.
Besides this, Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyapari Maandhan Yojana are being run by the Labour Department, Haryana. In this scheme a provision has been made to provide a monthly pension of Rs 3000 to workers / small traders on completion of 60 years of age.
