Chandigarh, September 4 – While congratulating Sh. Sumit Antil, who recently won gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics in javelin throw, Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the Haryana Government is with every youth, farmer and sportsperson of the state and will leave no stone unturned for their upliftment.
He added that the State will soon be developed as a sports hub. At the same time, in the next three years, the government will provide a large number of jobs to the youth of the State in which Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana will play a pivotal role.
The Chief Minister said this as chief guest during the felicitation ceremony of Paralympic gold medal winner, Sh. Sumit Antil which was organized in the auditorium of DPS School Khewra village today. He added Jai Pehalwan-Jai Yuva along with the slogan Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan. He said that the youth of the State is doing wonders in the world today and are shining everywhere. Speaking on Paralympics, he said that till date the total number of medals of all Paralympics held were 12, whereas this time India has won 17 medals so far, of which six medals have been won by the players of Haryana. The players of the state have won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals and the State Government is giving prize money of Rs 25 crore to these players.
The Chief Minister, Sh Manohar Lal said that Haryana would be made the sports hub of India, for which the State Government is moving forward in a planned manner and to achieve this there should be focus on each player. Sports policy has been formulated as per which there are jobs and facilities for the players. Sports nurseries are also being set up in schools, whose number has been enhanced from 200 to 500. These nurseries will now start again. These nurseries had been closed during the Corona period.
He said that no stone will be left unturned to increase the inclination of the children towards sports, in which Khelo Haryana has been playing a significant role. This time Khelo India will be organized in Haryana in February-2022, for which the players have been preparing so as to win maximum medals. Sports Academies and Hostels have also been built. Sports Excellence Centres have been set up in 13 districts of the state. Besides this, sports stadiums have been set up in 650 villages of the State, 70-80 stadiums have been set up at block level and 22 Sports Stadiums have been set up at district level. He elaborated that the State has to compete with big countries at International Level and at Olympics, for which efforts will be made to develop each village as a Sports Centre.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also announced to fulfill all the 27 demands for the development of the Khewra village as requested by the people of that village.
