Chandigarh, March 7 - Haryana Chief Minister said that as part of the campaign launched by the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi to make India TB-free by the year 2025, Haryana has set a target to become the first in the country to be TB-free, ahead of the national target.
“To achieve this goal, a State Task Force (STF) will be formed, under which government and private sector medical institutes and doctors will work together to make Haryana TB-free,” said Sh. Manohar Lal while holding an important meeting with the officers of the health department and private medical institutions here today regarding the TB-free Haryana campaign.
The Chief Minister directed the officers to integrate the data of all the private clinics and nursing homes, treating TB patients, by establishing coordination with these institutions, so that the real-time data of all the TB patients in the state can be known and timely treatment can be ensured. He directed that mobile units be deployed in each district to detect TB patients, which would conduct door-to-door TB diagnosis tests, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
The number of IGRA labs will be increased
The Chief Minister said that various initiatives are being focused to make Haryana TB-free. Under this, efforts are being made to timely detect TB patients, ensure their treatment and provide nutritious food to such patients during the treatment period of 6 months.
Sh. Manohar Lal further directed the officers concerned to increase the number of Interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) labs in the state.
Dr. Naresh Trehan, Medanta Hospital, who attended the meeting virtually informed that Health Department is working closely with Medanta Hospital to eradicate TB. On behalf of Medanta, 6 mobile vans equipped with digital X-ray and CB net machines are going to the districts to conduct the health checkups of the citizens. In the coming days, the number of these vans will be increased so that all the districts can be covered. Besides this, IGRA labs have also been established in the state, due to which the capacity of conducting TB test has increased, he informed.
The special focus should be on conducting 25 types of tests to be done under Nirogi Haryana
Directing the officers, the Chief Minister said that the state government has launched the Nirogi Haryana scheme, under which health checkup is being done in the first phase for families with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh. So far, medical health checkups of 2 lakh people have been done.
During these checkups, many TB patients have also been diagnosed. Therefore, special focus should be given to the speedy implementation of Nirogi Haryana Yojana at the grassroot levels along with its implementation in the cities as well, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Chief Minister said that arrangements for conducting 25 types of tests to be done under this scheme should be made in all the labs. Apart from this, an arrangement should be made to conduct all these vital 25 tests in the mobile vans which are being run for TB diagnosis also, so as to ensure complete health checkup of the TB patients, directed Sh. Manohar Lal.
In TB free campaign, Haryana’s score is better than the national average
The Chief Minister was apprised that Haryana's score in TB-free score for the year 2022 released by the Central Government is 85, while the national score is 82. As many as 63,060 TB patients have been successfully treated in the state.
In the meeting, officers of the Health Department shared that ASHA workers are conducting door-to-door screening of the citizens, if they have symptoms of TB, then further examination is being ensured for early diagnosis.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. G Anupama, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr. Amit Agrawal, and Director General, Health Services, Dr. Sonia Trikha also remained present on this occasion.
