Chandigarh, August 9: Haryana Governor, Sh. Bandaru Dattatreya said that Haryana is the first state to implement the National Education Policy-2020. With the implementation of the New Education Policy, a new era has started in the entire country making the future of the youth secure.
The Governor was addressing at the inauguration of a one-day workshop of Vice Chancellors and Registrars from various Universities across the State at Raj Bhavan today.
Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal and Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal also remained present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that each one of us should enthusiastically participate in the revolution of education and make a positive effort to shape India as envisaged in the New Education Policy.
He said that Universities certainly play a pivotal role for ensuring successful implementation of the National Education Policy-2020 in the country. Under this policy, new job oriented courses will be started in Universities as per the current demand. He said that many Universities have started new courses, which is a commendable work.
Sh. Dattatreya said that the main objective of this workshop is to coordinate and review the work done by them. The Centre Government has certainly done a commendable work for implementing the National Education Policy-2020 and for further ensuring the proper implementation of this Policy in the state, Haryana Government has certainly made great efforts.
He said that in this Policy, multiple entry and exit system has been implemented, which will be beneficial for the students. He said that the special feature of this Policy is that scientific and social research work will be monitored by forming a ‘National Research Foundation’, which will provide special facilities to the students.
He said that in the New Education Policy, the use of sign language programmes like ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and ‘One Nation One Digital Platform’ etc. have also been implemented completely.
Addressing the gathering during the workshop, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal called upon the Vice Chancellors and Registrars of all the Universities to set the target of taking the dimension of education to higher level and should also ensure that this target should be completed within the stipulated time period, so that every youth of the state can get its benefit.
He said that the State Government has set a target of completing all the provisions given in the New Education Policy in Haryana by 2025. Universities will play an important role in achieving this goal. Universities will have to take initiative to ensure how the grades of medical education, technical education, higher education can be improved, added Sh. Manohar Lal.
He said that Haryana can become a centre of attraction for foreign students due to its proximity to the national capital. Just as Gurugram as an industrial city and Kurukshetra as a religious city have made their mark on the world map, similarly it will be the endeavour of the State Government to make Haryana a global hub of education.
He said that efforts should be made to organize alumni meet in every University. In addition, Universities should introduce self-financing training and after developing the self-financing system fees of poor students will be borne by the Haryana government.
The Chief Minister said that to keep a close vigil on examination cheating incidents, Universities should develop new techniques for conducting evaluation and research.
If the youth would increase their knowledge in a positive way, then their knowledge can be used in a positive manner. Energy of the students should be connected with social service and the same should also be correlated with examinations as well, so that the interest of the students automatically gets generated and connected with social service and they can further develop a tendency to work selflessly, added Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Chief Minister said that raising the standard of living of the poor people living in the society is the utmost priority of the State Government. For this, six departments are working together for ensuring the successful implementation of Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana. Through this scheme, a target of increasing the monthly income of such poor families to Rs.15,000 per month has been set.
He said that the main objective of the government is to give benefits to the every needy person at their doorsteps. Education is the only means through which the living standard of every family can be raised.
In the workshop, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research Department, Sh. Alok Nigam gave a presentation about Medical Education and Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Sh. Anand Mohan Sharan gave a presentation about technical and higher education.
Chairman, Haryana State Higher Education Council, Prof. B. K. Kuthiala, Director General, Higher Education Department, Sh. Vijay Dahiya, Secretary to Governor, Sh. Atul Dwivedi, Vice Chancellors and Registrars of all the Universities of the state participated in the workshop.
