Chandigarh, August 20 - Leader of the House, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, while speaking on the first day of the Monsoon session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha that commenced here today, congratulated all the sportspersons who represented the Country in Tokyo Olympics-2020 on behalf of the House.
Speaking in the House, the Chief Minister especially congratulated the players who brought laurels to the country and the state by winning medals.
The Chief Minister said that the House is proud that this time 30 players out of 127 players who participated in the Olympics were from Haryana. The House takes special pride in sharing that out of seven medals, three were bagged by State players.
This House congratulates Neeraj Chopra, Gold Medalist in Javelin Throw, Silver Medalist Wrestler Ravi Dahiya and Bronze Medalist Wrestler Bajrang Punia, said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister said that Neeraj Chopra has won the country's first Olympic gold medal in track and field games in the 121-year history of Olympic Games. He said that in the men's hockey team that won bronze medal after 41 years, two players Surender Kumar and Sumit Kumar are from Haryana, while in the women’s Hockey team nine players are from Haryana.
The skill and stamina with which the women team have performed in the Olympics and reached the semi-finals got appreciation across the country. We are proud of our daughters, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
These sportspersons have not only made Haryana and the Country proud but have once again proved their mental toughness and physical strength on the global map.
The House is confident that our players will perform even better in Paris Olympics-2024 and will make Haryana and the Country proud by winning maximum medals. The House also hopes that this league of achievements of our players will continue uninterruptedly, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
He said that it is also a matter of pride that 19 players from Haryana have also been selected in the Tokyo Paralympics starting from August 24, 2021, we also wish them victory.
