Chandigarh, April 14: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi by revoking Article 370 had paid real tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who played a significant role in the framing of the Indian Constitution. He said that Dr. B.R Ambedkar had then opposed inclusion of Article 370 in the Constitution so as to uphold the political Integrity, Unity and Diversity of the country.

The Chief Minister was speaking as the Chief Guest at a programme organized on the occasion of 130th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R Ambedkar held here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Manohar Lal said that Babasaheb Dr. B.R Ambedkar always believed that only through education the person standing last in the queue can be brought into the mainstream. Babasaheb always believed in the theory that every person should spend half of his money on education and half on his other basic needs like food etc.

The Chief Minister said that Babasaheb served as the Chancellor of a Law University and also served as the Chairman Governing Body of Delhi's well-known Ramjas College. He was a known educationaist who always spoke about the importance of education, said Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister said that Dr. B.R Ambedkar along with highlighting the importance of fundamental rights has also talked about duties in the Constitution.

“In our democracy, through programmes organized on the birth anniversary of Babasaheb in parliamentary premises like Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, we can pay our true respects to these great men as these premises are the platform that truly reflects the definition of the Constitution,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also congratulated Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh.  Gian Chand Gupta for organizing today's programme in the Assembly premises and said that such programmes should be organized in the Vidhan Sabha on the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr. B.R Ambedkar that is celebrated every year on April 14.

He said that on 5 March 2021, during the budget session the statue of Babasaheb was also unveiled in the premises of Haryana Vidhan Sabha. He lauded Sh. Gian Chand Gupta for taking such an initiative.

The Chief Minister said that Dr. B.R Ambedkar was known as the most learned Indian. Since his young age, his inclination towards education was so much that even in those times he had stocked his personal library with more than 50,000 books. Through education, he gave the message of social harmony to society and every one of us should move forward on the path shown by Dr. B.R Ambedkar, said Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister said that in the year 1990, the Government of India had awarded Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with the title of Bharat Ratna. He said that with the aim of spreading the teachings and philosophies of these great men among the youth Haryana Government has taken the initiative of celebrating birth anniversaries of such great men.

On this occasion, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sh. Gian Chand Gupta while extending his best wishes to the people of the state said,” This is the first time that the birth anniversary of Babasaheb is being celebrated in the Assembly premises after the installation of the statue of Dr. B.R Ambedkar here.”

Sh. Gian Chand Gupta also thanked Chief Minister for attending the programme and said that the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi while following the path of Antyodaya as shown by Babasaheb has ensured the upliftment of the poorest of the poor.

On this occasion, Chairman Public Accounts Committee and MLA, Sh. Harvinder Singh Kalyan, MLA, Sh. Mamman Khan and other dignitaries were present.
