Chandigarh, March 29- In a bid to control and stop the movement of migrant labourers in a large number across the State, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has directed the Deputy Commissioners to completely seal the Inter and Intra State borders and said that the migrants should be stopped at their respective places and no one should be allowed to move from the current locations.
The Chief Minister gave these directions while presiding over the review meeting with the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police through video conferencing here today.
He directed the officers to set up ‘Shelter or Relief camps’ and ensure that proper food and staying arrangements are made for the migrant labourers staying in such camps and if anyone still opposes staying, then strict action should be taken against him. He directed a nodal officer for every camp in each district should be appointed who will ensure staying, food and medical facilities of these migrants. Apart from this social distancing should be ensured in these camps.
He directed that special ‘Shelter or Relief camps’ should be set up along with the National Highways for the migrant walking on foot so that such migrant labourers can stay in these camps and no one should be allowed to roam around on roads. Apart from this district-level call centers should also, be set up.
The Chief Minister said that during this time of crisis, the participation of NGOs and various social organizations should also be ensured. The representatives of such organizations should be allowed to give their contribution. He said that along with religious organizations like Radha Soami Satang many other have come forward to help the State Government for the same, therefore the officers should coordinate with such organizations to use their Bhawans as shelters for making staying arrangements for the people.
He directed that an officer should be appointed at every such Bhawan who can take care of various needs including food and drinking facilities for the people. Apart from this health and sanitation facilities at every shelter should be managed by the State Government. He said that as far as possible, the hot food facility wherever possible should also be provided in association with local Non-Governmental Organizations.
He said that special arrangements should be made for the people staying alone and destitute, especially the elderly who are staying alone.
